Combining stock twins with 99spec. Doable ?
Is it possible to take the compressors housing off of stock twins and putting them onto a 99spec manifold housing ? Removing the cartridge and bolting it back up.
i know the slight difference in compressors housing and turbine inlet / blade but the brick side should be the same right? seems like easier to do that than taking it apart..porting and trying to remove a dead stud on my replacement twins when my 99soec blown unit haves no stuck bolt and ported already. No cracks too |
I'm gonna answer my own question. The question is yes you can. It fits. I'm using my 99spec center which is ported and clear of any cracks what do ever, replacement twins secondary. And my spares twins primary... hope this works lol

The turbine housing for the turbos may be a bit different as the 99s had smaller or different sized turbine wheels for more response. The cast iron wall of the turbine housing should have a VERY close fit to the turbine wheel for maximum efficiency. If it's loose or big the turbo would work but I imagine you'd lose response. If it hits the turbo wouldn't spin at all :).

As Dale says, the housings are supposed to be slightly different from what I've read.
