wow, blast from the past.

well ill answer that question that was not meant to be answered.... A#1) getting the car to and from the track B#2) with the boost turned down a bit some possible wekend adventures, driving to meets, shows, sevenstock, and general hooliganary. possibly even a bit of commuting if the daily driver is in the shop or down (i have alot of problems with even DD cars and downtime).

I like the Spec 4-Puck. I have it in my car and love it! It has a very streetable feel.

but are you actually burning it out while you think it feels good? ive heard you cant really slip a 4 puck (or maybe that was a 6 puck)... arrg i just need to find some people with these different clutches and try them out.

I have the ACT street strip with a 9.5lbs. flywheel and I am very happy with that set up. My fd is a daily driver that have all the bolt-on with stock motor and turbos. I think Jason has the ACT clutch and light flywheel on sale right now.

AJatx I have driven an OS twin on a DD basis for the better part of the last 8yrs on 2 differnt cars. On average I have gotten around 2 1/2 yrs on a $600 rebuild. Once you get used to the feel of the clutch it is very easy to drive. I have also driven a car with an ACT 6 puck and the extreme pp. The engagement on the ACT is harsh and way more difficult to drive. The kicker on the ACT was that it only lasted 1 yr. and completely destroyed the stock flywheel. The car with the act had between 400 and 450rwhp, and the OS was on cars with 400-550rwhp.

I voted for ACT but I rather have Spec clutch. Have nothing bad to say about them

How about other? Ive heard good stuff from Clutch Masters.

ACT heavy duty pressure plate, Racing Beat Street/Strip clutch disc, Bonez street/strip clutch disk, M2 8.5-lb flywheel/counterweight. ACT pressure plate caused the stock clutch fork to break. Racing Beat SS clutch disc was low life with ACT HD pressure plate. ACT HD PP is an SOB in heavy traffic. Currently on the Bonez SS clutch disc. Will probably replace with a Spec Stage 2 clutch disc @ Rx7 Store?

Old thread but new info. I've burned up my ACT Extreme pressure plate and OEM organic disk. It'll slip in 5th on the highway if I floor it. I'm making about 400rwhp and the car is daily driven. I've put about 70K miles on the ACT Extreme. I had to replace the organic disk once as the original was ruined with oil by someone working on the car. I originally had the ACT HD which lasted less than a week and 4 drag strip runs with the stock twins and 330rwhp. I'm looking for something different as the organic disk doesn't hold up at all to being side stepped off the line (drag racing) and I'd like to keep my transmission intact so no solid hub disks.

Which has led me to either the RPS Max series with sprung 6-puck or the Exedy Hyper Single. I'd go twin plate but I cannot afford it at the time due to a house purchase.

I believe the clutch has been slipping for some time and I failed to notice until it became "glaring". It'll be interesting to see the performance gain by swapping to a new clutch!

How about Clutch.net? They seem to have dozens of configurations.

RotorMotor---Yes the OS and ORC clutches come with the flywheel unless you so choose not to get it with it, but normally when you get this clutch you change the enage mech too, so its more of a CLUTCH KIT then just a clutch.

Exedy sucks--Never played with the carbon one though

Why don't you like Exedy clutches?
