Hi guys, need abit of help. My dads out of town and im having trouble engaging gear. I can go out and get in the car and drive off fine, after a while when stopping i have trouble getting in to gear. Last night after driving i could not get the car in gear. I started it in gear all ok and drove home, there was a bit of judder on take up. Today i try when its cold and i can get gears again although a bit notchy, there is a small rattle that goes when i press the clutch in, i looked at the fluid and seems to be dirty. I have a new master fitted but did have the push rod fully extended to be able to select gear. Any help diagnosing my fault would be great and i can get the parts ordered i might need. Im running an exedy twinplate system. Thanks, rix.:wallbash:

Hi guys,Also when my engine was installed we noticed that the mounting plate for the slave was not as thick as a oem one.Does anyone know why it would have an aftermarket slave mounting plate that is thinner than a oem one.Thanks rix

Are you sure that all the pieces of the exedy twin plate were installed in the proper orientation? ie clutch discs aren't backwards etc.

What slave did you replace and why? I'm still on my original with 120,000 miles and it works fine. Also, why switch over the mounting plate? I would have used the factory one.

Are you using a push type clutch with the push to pull converter?

Hi,Clutch should be fitted correct,Was not the first time it went in.The slave was not changed and the mounting plate was all ready fitted,We just noticed that it was different.Its a pull type clutch thats in there.I dont know why they put the smaller mounting plate on, It was how it came from japan.Im going to put the mazda one on that i have .Seems strange that its ok ish when cold.The one thing im not sure of is if the clutch disc tranny side was slighty rotated.Thanks for your reply.Also it all seemed ok when it was mapped about 3hr of straight driving.Rix

Sorted.Got on the ramps today and the release bearing is sheered on the left side.While i was under it found a oil leak on the return pipe from the turbo.Easy fixes.:)

Changed out the release bearing today and fitted the oem slave cylinder mounting plate.My clutch has never felt so light. I will post up some pix of the offending articles tomor.:)

Ok guys here are the pix. Torn bearing and slimmer slave mounting plate.The mounting plate was fitted i guess to try and get more travel of the release bearing, Thus over time bending and tearing the bearing as the bearing will only travel as far as the bearing sleave will allow it to travel. One question I have does anyone know why there are 2 types of bearing guides attached to the gearbox. I took one off my spare box and it was different to the one on my car. The spare box one was just a plain sleeve and the one on my car was slightly thicker and had a lump of cast with what looks like two prongs on it. Overall though they have the same amount of travel and they are both oem.

That mounting plate is pretty ghetto :)

There are two versions of the oem clutch fork, one of them is reinforced.

Ah ha . Im glad i left the reinforced one on then.Thanks for that info. That plate is well machined and i think it is universal so anyone one who wants it can have it at shipping cost only.:)pm me if you want it.
