Clutch Slipping?
ive only just got my car, so and not really familiar wth how the stock clutch should feel, and the last few cars ive owned had very bitey puck clutches which are generally a lot more bitey than normal anyway. it feels very soft to me. feels fine in 1,2 and 3 but in 4th it seems very soft, and cruising along at 60kmph i can just drop the clutch straight in and out without feeling much "grab" at all. does this sound like its starting to slip, or are these clucthes very soft anyway? thanks

it depends on what clutch you have. if its stock then its ok. you cant really know without driving it.
|
what rzo said. i would rev to like 4k then drop the clutch. if the clutch holds good then you should be fine.

yeah, the clutch is a stock one.

if your rev climbs without power..your clutch is slippin..
id tend to think your issue would be air in your lines... |
you could try putting it in 3rd or 4th at a low speed and flooring it

As amp said your revs will increase without power, or as your driving you'll see your tach jump up and down a bit under constant throttle.

Air in your lines wouldn't cause the clutch to slip under acceleration because the clutch pedal is used to disengauge the clutch, so when your foot is off clutch, the hydraulic system isn't even being used. My clutch is slipping as well. While tuning the car on the dyno, my stock clutch started slipping around 6-7k in 3rd gear (approx. 290-310rwhp). |
