Clutch problems, need advice!
Hey all, I was driving aroung town earlier and my clutch died on me... Was stopped at a light, went to accellerate and my engine died as if I popped the clutch, after a few tries I finally managed to limp it down the road. The clutch pedal was slammed almost to the floor with very little friction point. Was difficult to change gears. I pulled into a gas station, and physically pulled out the clutch pedal and it seemed better, but still sticky if pressed all the way in. I assume it's the master cylinder that's bad? I dropped it off at the shop, but they were closed when I got there.
What do you guys think? And, should I replace the clutch with a stock one or should I upgrade? And if I do upgrade, what stuff should I do while upgrading the clutch and what clutch should I get? My car's a 94 touring with 60k miles pushing about 300rwhp with no plans to go single or upgraded twins. |
You may have a bad slave cylinder. They are easy to rebuild with a kit.
If you have to replace the clutch, you should consider a lightweight flywheel at the same time. I have the SR Motorsports 9.5# flywheel and ACT street strip clutch. It's a nice combination, and works well for street use. |
If you dont go with a light weight flywheel make sure you get your stock one resurfaced...
