clutch-line flare and diameter/size ? DIN/ISO or Double/SAE 45 ?
While installing a new JSPEC tranny, we crushed the hard clutch-line.
I have access to a Snap-On flare tool, and I have super-flexible Cunifer alloy brake-lines, but we are not sure what type of flare is used. We assume it is a DIN/ISO bubble-flare, but can anyone confirm ? Also, does anyone know the diameter/size ? We think it is 3/16 or 4.75mm. Thanks in advance, :-) neil PS: the Cunifer brake lines do NOT corrode from the inside-out. www.fedhillusa.com |
FWIW- it is a single-flare 45-degree, and 4.75mm (3/16) in diameter. Make sure you either re-use the stock fittings (if in good condition), or get the proper 45-degree single-flare fitting for a proper seal.
All is good. :-) neil |
Man, you are just flat hardcore, Neil :).
I knew it couldn't be too obscure, I had a local hose shop make up a braided clutch line once for me and they did it with parts on the shelf. If the hose ends are easy, the rest should be as well. Dale |
they are double flare i used a single flare at first but it slowly leaked.

I showed it to another mechanic, and they said single flare. And when I went to the parts store, the documentation for the brake lines said Japanese cars use single-flare . . . It was so easy, I think I'll just make another one with a double flare, just in case . . . :-) neil |
if you look closely you can see where it doubles over itself, it's for creating a stronger crack resistant flare.
sorry for the dirt it's been sitting in my garage for a year. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/DSC01645.jpg |
Confirmed, it is a DOUBLE-FLARE.
