Clunking when pressing clutch
Just like the title says, when shifting, or as soon as I press the clutch after load I hear a clunk from the rear end. I hear the clunk once, and it is gone. When I let off of the clutch or shift it is fine. I have heard that it is my rear main bushings. I was thinking of buying the poly ones from petitt but I think they are like $150 dollars or so. If anyone has any advice on the problem or cheaper bushings, I would appreciate it.
Also, how much of a pain are those bushings to get at? |
if you get a clunk it might be a cracked PPF, does your shifter move around when you get on the gas and off the gas ?
|
I thought it was normal for the shifter to move a tiny bit when you get on the gas.. ie the reason for having a torque brace
|
I get a clunck just after stopping at a light or sign. I leave the car in neutral and when it is time to go I press the clutch and hear a slight "clunck". It only happens after I've stopped and put the car in neutral after it's been driven in gear. Almost sounds as if pressing the clutch pedal is making the drive shaft turn a little for some reason......

No, my shifter seems to be fine. The only time I get it is pressing the clutch in between shifting gears. That makes me think there is an immediate load taken off the rear and it is moving slightly, I guess. The shifter seems to be pretty stable and I have never had a problem powershifting.

my shifter seems to want to move a little bit when I give it gas, or when Im off it. I also have this "clunk", as well as a "clank" when going slow. What is a PPF? The shifter moves forward when I let off the gas, and back when I give it gas... it moves just a tiny bit, but it moves.

PPF= Power Plate Frame.
Vosko- meant excessive movement im sure. A little is ok, but not a lot. Wish I was there to check it out. |
hmm. ok. what exactly is the powerplant frame? sorry if this sounds like a rather shallow question, but I'm curious. I find a new term everyday on this site.

i seem to have the same "clunck" i'm alittle concered now :(
|
It could be the pillow ball mounts in your rear suspension. Mine were making noise every time i got on or off the "loud" pedal.
