yeah you could probably buy cheaper lights then just fitting them yourself with custom mounts the just solder the wires to the old H4 harness so it plugs right in. It would probably look the same or better.

They aren't there for looks. Most people with FDs say there lights are not bright enough or the pattern sucks, here's a kit that will fix that

I guess you can use $20 Walmart lights but then you'll have $20 Walmart lights. These are Hella projector driving lights, key word is driving lights. I think the Piaa high beams are not required and can be replaced with cheaper ones but why?

Nice components, but it does look a little funny. If you could fit those lights in a half pop up it would look alot better. How is the beam pattern?

Well good idea, just those 2 lights look all alone in there, lots of black empty space. You move the big one up and half light it and your in business.....

to much expose metal piece, dunno if it's good in rain weather. well it's another innovative try :D

John, don't you have C-West lights now? What are you worrying about pop-ups for? If you want a better looking (and performing) set of sleek lights, just wait until I finish my kit. :)

Looking at pictures of AARotary's interior... :)

It just seems unless you want to spend 1200+ for the sleek light kits with HID's, pop-ups still give superior lighting due to the angle that sleek lights have to work with.


That kit definetely needs to have a more finished look to it. Also the lights should be moved next to eachother and if possible, for my tastes, have it go uo half-way like the KnightSports kit.


As soon as I come up with the funds for some HID driving lights, I am going to make my own kit that pretty much looks like this custom one that Wael El-Dasher did. It can be done for close to 600 bucks, and as you can see, has very nice light patterns. Also, seems like a breeze to do.

It COULD be a breeze............
until you decide to want to make your own carbonfiber or fibeglass cover so that your insides don't show. Other than that, it not terribly difficult to make your own brackets to bolt on a set of lights to the frame of the headlights.

Sometimes you've got to do things yourself if you want it done right.

But if you're fine throwing cash at people to have them make parts that don't look "home-made" then there is a JDM market out there just waiting for your mighty dollar. :)
