Check Engine Light???

Sorry for all the questions, we've only had our FD for a week and we keep running into questions/issues.

Tonight, we had the check engine light come on. Car was performing normal, the book says it's an electrical system signal?

Any thoughts on what causes the "check engine" light to come on?

Thanks for any help,

Phil

CEL Codes

Is this something I can do with the stock setup or do I need a "device"?
thanks

No device needed, other than a 2 or 3 inch length of small gauge wire. Follow these instructions. ----> http://www.fd3s.net/engine_codes.html
Then, if you haven't already, download a copy of the Factory Service Manual (FSM) from the sticky in this section of the forum. A search for other questions or how-to's regarding the particular issue is also worthwhile. Remember, there is literally nothing that you will have to deal with that hasn't already been discussed and dealt with here previously. Good luck.

The only device needed is a jumper wire.

Here's some instructions:

Tried the Jumper

I tried the jumper wire.

No flashes, and no "check engine" light any longer.

I did not do the battery/brake thing. Do the codes only show up when they are active? I thought the ECU kept the errors.

For now, no check light.

Thanks for the help.

The ECU should hold the codes. You may want to down load the FSM and read it.
