cheap fix to driver's side bin

The pivot pin broke off and after a couple of months I decided to do something about it.
1) filled in that whole area with Shapelock
2) approximated where the pivot point was supposed to be (Im off by one mm)
3) drilled a hole with a 5/32" bit
4) bought some stock aluminum rod 1/8" and snapped a 2" piece
5) pushed the rod enough to make it peek through the other side
6) installed it on the door

Sorry, thats all I took.
I got too excited and forgot to take pictures of it with the hole drilled.
I drilled right through the black plastic and the shapelock so I could thread the rod through instead of trying to figure out drill depth and sizing of the rod. Drilling through the black plastic makes it crack more than it already was.

I can take a picture of the installed look tomorrow showing some of the rod still jutting out.

Thank you. Does it feel like it is strong, and operates correctly?

It feels totally solid like OEM. It is slightly misaligned because I drilled the hole about 1mm off. Its not noticeable.
