Cheack out my motor pulling progress

I have put up a page with some pictures and info on the pull. I will try to add more detail as I get some more free time. Let me know what you think.

What do you mean, How do you disconnect it? There is a "C" Clip holding them together the you have to pop out with a flat screw driver. It is a good idea to replace these.

You can just unbolt them from the engine before you piull it.....It's a fun job isn't it? I am at the exact same spot with a customers engine right now. Just built the crate to send it off to Gotham Racing..( as soon as I hear back from them)

i think rotorbrain was referring to the "loop line"

it's a line that a lot of endurance racers use, it basically oils the front main bearing directly instead of the OEM design of oiling it last

it requires custom drilling into your front iron (must be done during rebuild) and is considered overkill by many new zealanders

only with a three rotor is it really benefitial for obvious reasons

BigIslandSevens 03-22-04 10:47 PM

If thats what he meant he couldn't have been more friggin vague. A little bit more detail would be nice instead of a pointless comment.( like which picture he was looking at ;) )

Thanks 93BlackFD, That makes sense for endurance races but like you said I think it's overkill for "normal" engines.,...even yours!!:) :D

well, my main concern with doing the modifications to the oiling system is cleaning up afterwards...

blowing out the passages with compressed air and some brake cleaner isn't going to gurantee that there's not a few shavings just waiting for the right temperature and pressure conditions to wiggle them loose

it just seems like it would be a ticking time bomb IMO

my motor does just fine, all temps/pressures are great, just gotta keep the motor mounts from breaking now :)

BigIslandSevens 03-22-04 11:58 PM

Yeah , I think that this mod would Definetly have to be performed while the engine is apart for the exact reasons you mentioned.( shavings and such)

WickedRx7- When are you going back in with the new engine? Or are you in the process as we type? Any other mods or pretty stuff that's not on the sight going in with the new set-up?

I am starting the re-assambly this coming weekend. I am only working on it on the weekends so it will take me a little time.

I will post more updates after this coming weekend.

make sure you call rob and have him on the phone to go over your pre cranking check list, it's part of their warranty...

No worries, I have talked to Rob about everything and plan on calling him before I am ready to start. I even talked to him about your situation because it almost made me not buy a motor built by him. After talking to him, I am confident that if I have problems and it is his fault, he will cover it, and if it is not his fault he will not cover it. Please do not turn my thread into a Pineappple debate.

i was trying to be helpful, i'm glad you've figured me out though
