Chasing down boost issue
Simplified sequential on stock twins. Everything seems to be running really well, but I can't seem to boost over 8psi, and when it seems to drop down to around 6 when I hit secondary. Just tried blocking off hoses to wastegate to see what happens and immediately was up to ~12-13psi. I didn't stay in it to see what happens during transition to secondary but AFRs were still safe at about 11.9. Curious about any ideas on where to start tracking down what may be keeping me from controlling boost with my Adaptronic ECU.

What are you using for boost control? Stock wastegate/precontrol solenoids or aftermarket solenoids?
This sounds just like a stock car with the pills in the waste gate line missing. Also spring pressure on the waste gate is 7psi. Dale |
Stock wastegate/precontrol solenoids. I am going to try swapping to aftermarket mac valves soon. You are right about the pill being removed from the lines.
|
If you removed the pills from the lines it would produce the results you are seeing.
|
Bingo, there you go. You should get good aftermarket solenoids and control them with the Adaptronic. Or get a good aftermarket boost controller.

Perfect, I'll give that a try and report back. Thanks for the quick help.

Replaced the wastegate solenoid with a MAC valve and it works now. Now off to the Adaptronic forum with questions about wastegate duty cycle settings. Thanks for the help. I have to valves so I will replace the other one too.

You can probably hook up the new MAC valve like the "version 2" set up -
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-gen-arch...review-192249/ I've been running my AVC-R for YEARS like this. Fantastic response and solid boost control. I don't see a reason that you absolutely have to run the precontrol separate with an aftermarket controller. Dale |
