changed oil... now have some kind of leak

i changed the oil last night for the first time since i got the car. changed the oil and the filter and now i have some kind of leak somewhere... cant tell where but under full boost i smell burning oil (just a hint) and after i stop some smoke comes into the cabin. im not sure what the hell is going on, but it reminds me of the front cover seal leak that i had on my FC (pain in the ass). i dont want to go through this again... please help.

p.s... i put in about 5.5 quarts... the factory manual says to put in 5.4... did i overfill it too much:confused:

Ahhh, you can check the level on the dipstick, Right? You can never drain all the oil out of the system when you change the oil. If you added 5.5 quarts to the pan then yes it's overfilled.

5.x is the capacity of the entire system. I've found that I can get about 4 quarts in (I have an R1 model with the 2nd oil cooler). I think most people don't even use 4 quarts when they change their oil.

Looks like you might need to let some out.

damn 5.5!! i think thats an overkill

i put 4 right away and check the stick and its perfect measurement so i always put 4 but keep a quart in the bin for when the car does the usual oil consumption..

hmm. . . i always get away with 5 quarts max. that brings me to the top of the line. . . just where i like it. :D

i always put in 4.5 quarts if i change the filter and 4 quarts if i just change the oil out

where would it be leaking from if he did overfill it?

when my cousin (a complete total car noob) put oil in my aunts car, he put like almost 6 quarts total in her mitsubishi van and after like a day, we saw it was leaking, i checked and the oil actually pushed the dipstick up enough to squirt out of it..

Definitely too much oil and make sure you didnt' lose the washer that goes between the nut and the oil pan.
