CF Sissor Door?
 

I had an idea about how to get sissor doors on a FD. What if you bought the Panspeed CF doors and had a shop fit them into sissor doors? Would this work? Would it be cheaper than having CF doors custom-built? Because the Panspeed CF doors are only $2500.00 a pair. What do you guys think?

Its alot more work than that. The problem is custom making the hinges and fitting struts to raise the door. The only kit I know if the it RE Amemiya kit. If I recall correctly, it was something like $15,000. Not worth it in my opinion. Would look nice though.

Thank you Mahjik, but I've already used the SEARCH feature and read all the posts and know about the RE kit in Japan ($10,000) and about having a body shop do custom hinges and fittings on the stock doors($3500 per door). What I was asking was what about using the Panspeed CF doors for $2500 a pair and getting a shop to make the hinges and fittings. It seems like it would be cheaper because the CF doors are lighter and the hinges and supports would be smaller than using the stock doors which are metal. Also I would think they would last longer because sagging and the like wouldn't be as much of an issue with the weight of the CF doors. What do you guys think about going in this direction for scissor doors? Seems like a more affordable way of getting them.

I would imagine, that most of the work (translated $$$$) will cost in the fitting. From what I understand, there is quite a bit of work getting the hinges and fitting on the FD. Also I've heard, it's not the doors that really make up most of the costs.

If you are really interested in it that bad, call the place in Florida http://www.quwhees.com/ and ask them what it takes to make a conversion like that to the FD. That will let you know how much money the doors would actually save you.

I don't know of anyone here who has actually done it, so the only way to get answers is to talk to someplace that actually can do it.
