Carbon Fiber Intake Piping Kits
 

I am getting ready to make some carbon fiber intake piping and I wanted to get an idea how much interest there is for this. If there is enough interest, then I will will make reuseable plugs in which to form the pipe around. The carbon fiber is a sleeve that is completely seemless and will provide excellent strength as well as looks, assuming you like carbon fiber (see pic of unfinished material below).

If you are interested, please specify what type of filters you would prefer so that I can go with the most common choice. This will help to ensure that they are arranged in such a way that everyone can use them with out any difficulties, (obvioulsly there will be exceptions).

If there is a good response, I will eventually be looking at making a replacement for the intake elbow as well.

Of course, I don't have a price just yet, but I'm guessing they will end up being around $225 - $300 for a set. It all depends on the time it will take and how many people commit.

However, Iif I am not 100% satisfied with the quality and durability, I will not sell them. I'll post pics of the progress, but it may be a few weeks.

It sounds cool, but i doubt many people would be willing to pay 225-300 for them.

Yeah, over $200 for two pipes (especially since they're both under a foot long) is way too high!

Not to mention the primary turbo pipe is a pain in the ass to fit with many aftermarket air intakes. In my case, the M2 air box required me to arm wrestle the lower pipe into place, so a CF pipe would have shattered with what I had to do to mate up the holes.

If you did the longer upper pipe that is a breeze to put on, yeah that would be easy and since it's over the turbos (heat wise) it could help keep the intake air a tad cooler than an aluminum pipe..just speculation though on that issue.

^^It probably would not make the intake charge cooler, if anything it would make it hotter, carbon absorbs heat way better than most materials.
