carbon body kit
hi guys,
i'm just wondering if anyone actually bought this kit over the ebay? it's a full carbon fibre body kit (wide body). my question is, how are the fitments like? problem fitting? or the product ended up to be not straight ? any comments about this kit would help. http://cgi.ebay.com/Mazda-RX7-93-97-...3A1%7C294%3A50 |
sorry....
this is the link that i'm looking at.... any comment about the seller ? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazda...mZ280293240092 |
Mazdaspeed knockoff.
Try it and let us know. :icon_tup: |
that isn't a Mazdaspeed replica.
To the OP, the problem with carbon kits is that you really can't shave them to fit perfectly. You are really stuck hoping the molding process was spot on, and that it has been properly stored since production to prevent warping. And the first little bump against any cone or object is gonna make it look like crap. |
they state a clause on the ebay stating that installation has to be by someone who has experience in fitting composite materials...

That still isn't the Mazdaspeed kit, though. It's a replica of the RE-Amemiya GT300.
Here's a website that sells that kit in carbon and frp. I don't know about the quality, though. http://www.aerokits.net/cart/index.p...x&cPath=75_204 |
Look again in the OP's original link in his first post.
That kit IS a mazdaspeed kit without the rear wing and the front bumper light covers. The 2nd link is the RE-Amemiya knockoff kit. |
Im pretty sure the car in the second link is a member here.

1st link is Mazdaspeed kit "copy"
2nd link is RE Amemiya kit "copy" |

That beng said, fitment on this kit does look great. Only problem might be the doors. The ones in the pics are their CF shells which are not included in the kit. Main question is, were the doors made to fit an OEM body or this kit? |
they are a legit company, when i worked at paypal i talked to someone that worked there about a dispute
then the conversation turned into them telling my about their kits, i love the re gt300 kit and i am going to buy it. basically they told me that if it doesnt fit 100% perfect we can work something out (especially knowing i know every little rule about paypal and if i am not happy i could get my money back) |
There is sooooooooooo much massage work that has to be done to get kits to fit just right. See my POR-15 thread, which also shows all the work molding in a ShineAuto Burnout II kit.
Even a nice fitting kit needs help. You're not going to be able to fill a little bondo here and there. The car will end up with gaps and will look like hodge podge job. That's a lot of cash. That stuff better fit dead nuts (which is highly unlikely)... and if it dont, you or your bodyman is stuck trying to make it work. I'd definitely try to find a couple referrals, see a car in person and make sure its finishes up to your standards. |
i think its going to be too much work to get it to fit right.
|
especially i'm like 50,000 miles away.... guess it's not a good choice of getting the body although it's like quite a good deal as it's a CF....
would be better if i get myself from Japan... hoping that it'll be a better fit. |
