Car won't start with Power FC, will with stock ECU! 16mb Video of my car Cranking....

Alright, I unplugged one of the two switches just beneath the UIM. If both are plugged in I get a clicking sound, like air running through an open line. I believe one of the vacuum switches are bad.

Well this clicking disappears when the Stock ECU is in, AND the car will start.

THe Power FC is running on the base map, and my PIM voltage is maxed out an highlighted at 4.99v, and it wont drop. Should I mess with the Map sensor? I was told this might fix it?

If you have any insight on this, Please let me know ASAP.

Thank you,
-Darren-

Video is 16mb, and the it;s not a grounding problem, or starter problem, since I can get it all to work with the stock ECU.

make sure your map sensor is plugged in, and make sure the pim voltage is set to normal under settings

actually, reset your powerFC....that will help us troubleshoot for you

SERIES7 11-09-03 03:26 PM

stupid question, but have you cut all the necessary wires on the ecu wiring harness to install the PFC?

93BlackFD 11-09-03 03:27 PM

and also you have spark/fuel, so it's definitely setting related or installation related

dhahlen 11-09-03 03:53 PM

ecu was just plugged in, and i reset it, and all 4 pins were pulled...

everything is default, everything is plugged in.

93BlackFD 11-09-03 04:06 PM

can you keep it alive with the gas pedal?

dhahlen 11-09-03 04:13 PM

nope, it just dies instantly, if ya heard the video thats all i can get =/

clayne 11-09-03 04:23 PM

Just for a sanity-check, go back and double-check the pins you pulled again.

Also, they allow you guys to roll modified cars on base with no issues? That's pretty cool.

dhahlen 11-09-03 04:29 PM

The car has mods, but it should run on bsae, since generally base is pretty much stock ECU. Pins are good, and I would need a datalogit kit to load another map right?

Still, it should be starting... and that damn clicking sound coming from under the manifold... a leaking vac line... but like I said it doesn't happen with the stock ECU.

clayne 11-09-03 04:40 PM

Everything's grounded correctly right? There's no reason at all it shouldn't be working if you did an All Map Init.

The only thing I can suggest is borrowing a PFC from someone around the area to verify if it is the PFC itself, or not.

dhahlen 11-09-03 04:46 PM

What exactly is an "All Map Init. ?" - Everything is grounded correctly. I have extra grounds running to the chasis and engine from the battery.

clayne 11-09-03 04:50 PM

All Data Init is the PFC reset.

Go to (from the commander):

1. ETC.
2. ALL DATA INIT.
3. SELECT YES and hit NEXT.
4. Turn KEY OFF, pull KEY OUT.
5. Put KEY IN. TURN ON.

edit: Too late

dhahlen 11-09-03 04:53 PM

Did that, same boat.

Hrmm
Map Sensor couldn;t be bad if it works on stock ecu right? Isn't there a way to adjust teh Map sensor to get the PIM voltage down to normal? My VTA1 and VTA2 voltages are high too, i need to get those down.... dont know what to do to adjust these though.

clayne 11-09-03 04:58 PM

If they are reading high something funky is going on.

You could resort to just disconnecting the map sensor to see if it starts, but that's somewhat pointless as you actually want to use the car.

Anyone in Southern California want to lend their PFC to Darren?

dhahlen 11-09-03 05:03 PM

The car is in Phoenix Bro, I can call up Tom he'll elp me out if he isn't busy. Appreciate it thought.

Zyon13B 11-09-03 05:13 PM

VTA's are the throttle pos sensor. Thats plugged in right?

Zyon13B 11-09-03 05:14 PM

Here's how to adjust and/or test:

dhahlen 11-09-03 05:20 PM

you think perhaps since the VTA's are too high, it wont allow the car to stay started? now if this was teh case, why would the stock ECu work?
