Car wont start need guru help
 

Well I have been having a problem for a while now of my car not starting.

When it has sat over night it will fire up usually no problem starts a lil rough but it starts If I turn it off it will not start again untill it sits all night again.

I have replaced the starter and still the same problem I jumped a ground from the neg battery to the altenator so I know the motor is grounded.

I also jumped the clutch saftey switch and nothing

It started out as I would go to turn the key and nothing then after a few truns it would fire.

I know its not the battery because I used the one out of my jeep just to make sure and nothing.

really the only thing left I can think of is that the ignition switch is bad but it seems like it would never start if that was the case.


If anyone could help with a lil more detailed info then the shitty wire diagram that is in the manual that would be great I understand how to read it but its just aint as much help as someone who knows what they are doing vs a semi rookie mecanic.

Have you started with a compression test? Hot start problems are one (of the many) signs of a low compression motor.

Do you mean it won’t turn over? Or that it wont start? Big difference. If it won’t start until you left it off all night probably means you have a running rich problem were the fuel needs to evaporate over night. (too much fuel and spark won’t ignite the mixture)

I would double check the ground strap that goes from the main block (above the spark plugs below the intake manifold) and make sure that’s got a nice strong ground. I actually had the problem were it would stop cranking and it was really confusing I had actually bought a new starter for it and found the same problem with the new one. It just turned out that the amount of current that flowed through the bad connection actually limited my starter into not working.

i had the same problem but then i put one of the ground kits on the car and it starts right up everytime.

I should have been a lil clearer. It will not turn over. The starter does not kick on at all Im gonna run some test tomarrow on the curent going to the starter

Try pumping the clutch and holding the key at the same time... or hold the clutch down and turn the key on and off..

well this is what you need to do:

1.sell me the car

2.i fix the car

3.i enjoy the car

4.your problem is over.

This is what you need to do, check for 12volts to the starter cut relay (controled by car alarm) (in the left kick panel) you must have the key in the start position! if you have 12volts there its not the key switch, check the relay its self, it is normally closed, pull it out and check it for continuity across the contacts, you should have it. (could have bad contacts in side). Check for 12volts at the neutral switch (i know you jumped it) remember the key has to be held in the start position for all these checks! last check for 12volts on the single small black wire at the starter. If that all checks good you have bad wires/ connections from the battery to the starter or to the car (ground) To quote you "I jumped a ground from the neg battery to the altenator so I know the motor is grounded." This statement makes no sense to me. If you do not understand how to use an electricans meter you need to ask for help from someone who can. If you don't know someone who can us a meter you will have to trust a garage to do it. $$ and who knows if they will be able to do it.

thanks for your help I do know how to use a volt meter but I was working on limited time each day I worked on the car due to my hours at work. I was looking at a wiring diagram at work ( I work at a dealership ) and in the stuff I could find online there was no starter cut relay. so when I saw that in the line on the diagram I thought that has to be it. well sure enough the car fires over once then nothing checked the relay and it was switching over not allowing the current to flow to the starter so something is wrong in the alarm causing it to do that we put a jumper wire on the harness and it fired up 5 times in a row so hopefuly that will be a good temp fix till I got time to get it in the shop because Im not even about to begin messing with all the wires in that car trying to figure out whats causing that.
