car turns over but no start
 

I was messing with the ecu trying to reset it and forgot to hold down the break for five seconds. so i turn it off and undo the computer again and hold the break down for five seconds hook the ecu back up and nothing. it cranks just fine just wont start. could it be that by turning the car on and off really quick could have giving me that fuel flooding problem. sounds to me like im not gettign any spark. please help thanks in advance.:) :)

If you think it might be flooded then pull the "EGI" fuse in the engine bay right beside the battery. Then crank it 3 times for 15 seconds each. I did it about 5 times tonight trying to get mine to run after pulling the UIM off. My problem turned out to be a loose spark plug wire not a flooding issue though.

Yeah, I would check your spark plugs also. Make sure everything is connected properly. Also check to see if your even getting spark now. Because my car all of a sudden was turning over and not starting at one point. Found out that it wasn't even getting spark, but problem is is that I still don't know why yet because its not fixed yet :p:. Sorry I would be more help if I knew more about my problem. All I can say is check that your getting spark and fuel. Those are obviously 2 main factors, and if both are happening then just do the steps to unflood it if you haven't already.

ok im trying the flooding steps i cant tell which is the fuel relay is that the egi and also what does uim stand for. thanks

Yep... the fuel relay is the one marked EGI.

UIM is upper intake manifold. Runs across the top of the engine, and has 4 intake runners (tubes) running over towards the turbos.

there are rumors that the thing is programmed that if you floor the accelerator and crank, new fuel will be cut to the injectors and the car will deflood itself; just like an old carbeurator model.
Seems to work on mine.
May have to alternate between deflooding and pedal up rich mixture until it chuggs a few times.
Something is wrong, but it is intermittant on mine; will not perform for mechanic. He thinks it is sticky injectors.

ok this is really starting to get to me i tried pulling the EGI and cranking it a few times and ect ect... then i went for the whole flooded engine cure that i got off of rob robinette's web page and went thru all the steps i changed the spark plugs removed EGI cranked over few times let sit for half our came back squirted table spoon of ATF into each spark plug hole and put back together EGI back in and tried to crank but no catch. checked if i had spark and yes i do have what else could be the problem:mad: :confused: :mad: :confused: :mad: :confused: :mad: :confused:

Pretty basic, but have you done a simple ECU reset again?

Have you checked all the plug wires to make sure you are getting spark??? My car was acting exactly the same, and I had one plug with a loose wire.... pushed it on, and it fired right up.

Also, can you hear the fuel pump running???

where exactly is the fuel pump is it an in tank fuel pump? or an external fuel pump?

in the tank. was it flooded? you can put a funnel in the gas tank and listen for the pump to see if it turns on. are you sure the ecu is pluged all the way in? and yes all fuel injected cars will "clear flood" when cranking with the accelerator to the floor

I moved mine from the driveway to the curb.
Next day it would crank, but not fire and start; apparently loaded up.
I watched the mechanic get it going. He removed intake nipple and replaced with hose. One person sprays starting ether in the end of the hose, the other crank with accelerator depressed. Keep spraying and cranking until firing and getting 4k rpm or so. Let it run and warm up thouroughly.
I think from now on, for any short move when cold, I will let it warm up fully and burn out all the rich mixture and oil from the start sequence.

Check the main fuse (120A). It may be blown.
