Can you reuse the stock pressure plate?

I will probably go with the ACT S/S disc which says it can be used with the stock pressure plate. I know the flywheel can be resurfaced (if I had anything left to resurface) but does the pressure plate have to be replaced?

I replaced/resurfaced the preasure plate on every clutch that I have ever done. Preasure plates surfaces wear and can crack.

Check the fingers on the PP for bending and get the feeler gauges out and see that everything is still within spec. Tolerances are listed in the manual, which you can find online if you don't have a hard copy.

I thought about reusing my stock PP awhile ago when my clutch went out, but I went with the ACT Extreeme instead. Glad I did. It was a pretty good clutch. Solid is the word that comes to mind.

Replace it. They wear out. It's way too much work pulling the tranny to leave in an old pressure plate.

You can go to a clutch rebuilder and have the pressure checked and the surface refinished . I would have it rebuilt or replaced with a new one .

Pressure plates wear out atthe same rate as clutches.. maybe more.. ON m BMW the plate died, not the clutch disk!

Ditto. Put in a ACT street strip clutch kit from the RX7 store and be done with it.

ok thanks guys. thee's a local shop that can rebuild and modify the pressure plate but I may just buy a new kit.
