Can an FD do this?

http://1002.org/noon/bradmoving.mpeg

I know and FD will shoot flames after getting a turbo back exhaust. But will it shoot mega flames liek this supra does?

mightyslash 05-08-02 04:00 PM

HOly Crap!

ziftar 05-08-02 04:11 PM

That will take care of those pesky tailgaters! I wonder if its possible to shut the flames off by turning down the boost or changing the fuel setup in the car?

darkside7 05-08-02 04:11 PM

Dont_Be_A_Rikki 05-08-02 04:40 PM

i think that had the good old spark plug trick!!!
but still bad a$$
-Ryan

JONSKI 05-08-02 04:40 PM

Holy shit! That thing is jet-powered!

Rotary93 05-08-02 05:12 PM

Pretty Sweet!!!

MDoMe7 05-08-02 05:18 PM

i wish i can do that... i hate tail gaters

cyanide 05-08-02 05:26 PM

you could possibly blow someone's engine that way. say a person was tailgating you, and just then a huge flame came out your exhaust. the other car would have to be a turbo car with a front mount intercooler of course. the flame would bake the intercooler and raise their air intake temperatures to god knows what, and kill their engine

R Xplicit 05-08-02 05:28 PM

dial in some extra fuel and remove the cat. i have some video of my car doing that, every gear. no shit. however, on the supra, it almost seems delayed, and done with the good ole spark plug trick, but something tells me that a guy in a nice supra would not do that. cause then it would cease to a nice supra and transform to a rice supra....

black99 05-08-02 05:54 PM

unplug your map sensor once.. lol

mjw 05-08-02 06:08 PM

Jeez, I have never seen a Supra shoot flames like that. I have some vid tape my buddy shot while following me on an Angeles Crest run where my Supra shot flames a couple times, but it was real fast and much much smaller than in that vid. Something else is going on there, if not the spark plug trick then dialing in a ton of fuel on a VPC might do it.

gotorx7 05-08-02 06:45 PM

I wonder if he's cutting the ignition completely, then turning it back on???

r0gu3 05-08-02 07:23 PM

I thought key banging only worked on carbs, not fuel injected ...
-r0gu3

happyham 05-08-02 08:24 PM

maybe he has a thinner exhaust? or maybe when blipping the throttle to shoot flames for distance, having 6 cylinders pushs the flames farther than it would for a small displacement rotary engine.

he is definitely not turning off the ignition.

tymmeRX7 05-08-02 08:56 PM

i wishi could see it so i can do it too.

Nameless 05-08-02 08:58 PM

maybe its doctored? looks kinda weird on a couple of the runs. Its really cool though hehehe.

c00lduke 05-08-02 09:09 PM

I think it looks majorly fake, to much like a star burst, takes up the whole screen with white light but it is while he is speeding up with i didn't know could happen, but hey, i really dont know anything at all

Import Convert 05-08-02 09:10 PM

GOOD GAWD!!!!! wish mine did that!

dzungh 05-08-02 09:13 PM

There are kits you can buy so you can shoot flames. I'm not saying it's fake, but you never know.

noon 05-08-02 09:32 PM

The video IS real, I'm sure a search at supraforums will uncover more videos and pictures.

1FAST7 05-08-02 10:31 PM

that is crazy. are there any fd videos with shooting flames?

Pumped 05-08-02 10:50 PM

Sounds like he's serious.

Some rice shops sell a flame kit which contains nothing more than a spark plug and a switch with some wires. You can mount the switch anywhere easily accessable on the dash, the plug is installed on the tail pipe. When you want flames, press the button. You do need to be running on the rich side with no cat to do this though. I have seen it on bikes too.

...yeah, sounds like his idea came out of a grade school science book.

supraman95 05-09-02 11:48 AM

For all of you that are skeptical about Brad.

This is real, he lives not far from me and we are pretty good friends.. Brad is a pretty smart guy and likes to play alot. He uses his AFC and some other stuff to accomplish this. Its pretty sweet actually, Especially at WOT. Ihave seen it several times in person. Not bad at all. He has spent some cash since the pics though. He just put a widebody kit on the car with Carbon Fiber Fender Flares and it is bad ass. Car also has ghost flames. It has 315's on the back and there is like 2-3 inches that the widebody still hangs over. He had to get 18x13 rims for the car. I will post some pics.
His name is Brad Mayo from Knoxville, TN

GsrSol 05-09-02 12:50 PM

I wish I had the money to play around like that. Do you have pics with the widebody kit?
Nice car Brad!

Freaky Monkey007 05-09-02 02:52 PM

so is he using the spark plug trick supraman95??

elizer 05-09-02 03:40 PM

wonder if you could stick some steaks behind that thing and cook them. yummmmyyyyyy exhaust marinated steak

NickSimcheck 05-09-02 08:15 PM

This Supra sounds pretty bad ass with the wide body and 18X13's let's see some pictures!

Nick

happyham 05-09-02 10:59 PM

someone i know put sparkplugs to his old 60's muscle-car-whatever, it looks real cool, especially since he has 1" exhaust so it looks sounds like one of those F16 jets. his flames can get up to like 10 feet long too, but then it is a big V8

Nexxus 05-10-02 12:10 PM

Here is a picture i snapped of his car at the texas meet a few months ago. Not very good quality though. You can see the CF flares and even the scoop on his roof....not sure what that's for.

http://users2.ev1.net/~jackles/plates/youlost.jpg

NickSimcheck 05-10-02 12:28 PM

I like the plate "You Lost" maybe somebody shouyld cover that up? Anyways the roof scoop = wanna-be-rally-air-intake-but-is-vary-vary-rice-cause-it's-not-really-functional-even-if-it's-functional Mod :)

Nick

Freaky Monkey007 05-10-02 02:01 PM

That looks like a crappy install on the flares at the bottom.. I cant exactly say i like this car.. Never really cared much for the look of the supra anyways.. And what is up with the roof scoop??

bamboofeva 05-10-02 04:14 PM

bamboofeva 05-10-02 04:14 PM

i met this guy at the texas2k meet. he had this mechanisim hooked up that a lot of older "hot rodders" use to shoot the flames out. kinda like the spark plug trick;)

noon 05-11-02 08:38 PM

As seen here.

Immanuelrx 05-12-02 12:21 AM

Nice Flame shooting and all but the fender flares looks Fugly. Just my opinion!!!

sportykev 05-12-02 12:53 AM

haha now thats what I call thrust

ghetto-rx7 05-12-02 10:11 PM

it looks like the carbon fibre fender flares are spray painted on

Ryan95 05-12-02 11:09 PM

That's pretty old, I remember when the guy on the Supraforum did that.

He wired up an ignition source to the exhaust and ran it in super rich mode.

jmo87 05-12-02 11:43 PM

those are pretty

user 84205 05-13-02 12:02 AM

i cant see anything... BUMMER....

the supra picture didnt show up? well if it didnt there's a low angle shot of the rear and it has a canister style muffler with what looks like a wire running into the side of the tip.. i'm guessing its for the flame trick using a sparkplug.. i doubt its for the egt :D
