Can The Avcr Control Boost Creep If Use A Mid Pipe

hey guys i really want to use a mid pipe to get that extra hp i wanted to know if i could get away with it if im useing a boostcontrol or would i still have problems with it

Boost creep is not caused by indequate control of the wastegate. It is caused by the wastegate being too small. Thus, a boost controller cannot fix the problem.

Do a search for more details. This topic has been covered many, many times.

how about NNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

You are SCREWED with a mid pipe (I have one in right now) and the boost creep will not stop. dont waste your time and money getting the wastegate ported either it wont do enough to help. You need to start saving for the single turbo setup like I am trying to do. It just takes a while to save $3000 on a USAF salary.

you will still get creep, but you'll just have to compensate for it. for example setting the AVC-R to .65 bar of boost...depending on how cold the temp is you might actually boost .95 bar. after a while you will begin to notice the pattern and will be able to judge pretty well the amount of boost you will generate, also keep your wg cycle numbers lower.

i never had any issues with over boosting, i was non-sequential too....and the boost would peak and hold steady.

You do not have an ecu listed in your mods. Putting on a midpipe with the stock ecu is practically begging for a blown engine. Also, you should be investing in an intercooler very soon.

A midpipe is pointless at low boost levels IMO. To me, a midpipe would come after all of the other basic mods:

*intake
*cat-back
*downpipe
*intercooler
*ECU
*fuel pump
*injectors

Then you don't have to worry about boost creep because your car will be able to handle it.

hey thanks for the info, to all that helped now i dont thinkg ill be getting a midpipe ill just get another hi flow cat until i go single thanks again

Narfle 05-18-03 03:46 PM

so you can set peak boost lower to compensate for amidpipe?
how does this affect spool?
thx

JOES95RX7 05-19-03 11:47 AM

You can try that but from my experience it isn't going to change anything. By the way, (ryanberg "dont have to worry because your car will be able to handle it) not true. The more you mod the worse the boost creep will get. Intake will make the creep even worse if you have a midpipe. I agree that you should do the high flow cat.

I run an custom 3" intake to the stock twins, with a full 3" exaust... I have a stock motor ports and have not yet polished my intake, but I ported and ceramic coated my wastegate and exaust housings, and I have absolutely no boost creep issues. I also ported my waste gate by hand, and was able to smooth out the air entry path from the stock 90deg corner...
