Can anyone confirm this clutch?
I bought a used "ACT Extreme SS" clutch but after getting it, it looks stockish. I really don't see any real difference between it and the old one. I did some searching through the "for sale" section to look at other pictures and it looks like, from the best i could tell, the others look the same. Now is there any identification marks on it or numbers? The only numbers i found were OE17 and something like 183000. The other one had different numbers for the first but same for the second too.

I guess you will see if there is any difference when you try it out.

The ACT should be 40% more pressure , the diaphragm will be the differance . It could be the preload curve or the thickness .Take both plates to a clutch rebuilder and have the clamping force measured .

^ that is a ACT pressure plate. Post a pic of the clutch disc and we can tell you more.

Here's the disk...

Looks like a stock disk.
|
stock, see the four spring things? the REAL act one has 6...
|
Isn't that what the Street/strip clutch is supposed to be?
Every place i went to says it's mated with a stock disk. Even the ACT website shows a pic of a stock disk with 4 springs... |

You bought the ACT Extreme p/p with stock disc, I saw it in the FS section. They do indeed come with a stock disc. It looks like the real deal to me.
|
Yeah i couldn't pass up a deal like that. I was just getting paranoid.
Thanks guys for the help. God i love this forum........ |
I just purchased an S/S HD ACT clutch and the disk looks nothing like that. The center section looks more substantial. The build date is 8-10-2007 on the package, I thought it might just be a new disk design. :dunno:

The disk that came with the kit.

Attached are pics of my ACT S/S:

I e-mailed ACT to verify that it was the correct disk for the FD and it was. I sent out another today asking him if this was an improved disk, meaning not a version of the stock disk.

It was my understanding that they used the same disk, just different pressure plates on the disk.

Yea, the part number (mz011) is the right p/p HD. I think the guy I ordered if from might have received an extreme disk, although from all of the sites I looked at, the p/n was the same between the two.
Edit: Just looked at the ACT site and it has three options for the disk. stock, modified, and performance. |
Act only has the shows them having the stock disk available. Now does that mean they don't make more....no. There site also doesn't show them making a sprung hub 6 puck for the FD either.
Let us know what they tell you on whether or not it's an upgraded disk or not? |
Good news from ACT.
It depends on whether or not the part you have is actually the 3000206. In the past we the only disc that we offered for the RX7 was a stock disc which was either a MZSD069 or 1000204 part number. Given your description, this sounds like what you have. We then moved production of the discs solely in-house which is when the 3000206 superceded the 1000204. As you noticed, the in-house disc is more substantial then the stock units previously offered.
