Call it done...no more mods.
Well...it is time to call it done. No more monkey around with modification to the 7.
All non-installed parts will be up for grab bunch will be up in for sale ads as soon as pictures are taken. The timeless FD stay but what she currently has that is it (PFC, RB DT, Apexi intakes, Greddy SMIC, CCWs, HR/Bilestein, HKS DP). It has come to the point modifying car to be faster doesn't make sense anymore. So what if the guy next to you at the redlight have a faster vehicle...or so what if I am the fastest guy...so what? If my next sport car doesn't leave the show room floor with 400+ hp or whatever, its remain thay way. Of course what just said here make no sense to the young folks...their life is a very very fast car. I was one & completely understood the feeling. I am sure some of the senior member here feel the same way...at least once. |
I am starting to feel the same way, my life no longer revolves around my car, well not as much as it did in my early 20's :D
|
So, what are you selling :)?

Way to keep clean mods, btw :bigok: |
I wonder if I will feel that way some day? I rember when I first got my evo, couldnt keep my foot off the gas, now that I have the rex I still get urges but common sense comes into play now. But modding a car is an addiction to some, and they will never stop.
|
yes it is an addiction...i ve been in this game a long time and i too realized a few years ago that there is more in life than a fast car. i still tinker and mod but chose for it not to engulf my entire life and bank account. do it while your young but at some point most of us realize it is not everything. best of luck with your new outlook on life.

"Done" is an enviable place to be in modding. I don't know if I've ever figured out what that'll look like for me, but your mod list looks pretty clean. What's up for grabs?
|
Unfortunately for me, when i stop modifying the car i loose interest in it. I dont think this will happen with the 7 because its just so damn nice to look at. I'm only prepping mine to be a track slut so i'll be done soon too. Then i just get to replace things that break. My bank account is definitely looking forward to that. I am too.

The way things have been lately, I'd say 'senior' is either older than 25, or owned the FD for more than 3 years
|
Dam, I meet those criteria's and I am now just starting to mod my car. Car hasn't ran in a few years and I purchased more things for it than when it ran.
|
I am 45...begin to like those big sedan like the LS460 and BMW 7 series.
|
I totally know how your feel. I have been on a quest to get my car track worthy since highschool, and now that it is I am finally content. I just replace stuff as it breaks now. Pads, rotors, and rubber are spendy all their own. Well, I guess I could always use a set of R compounds....
|
Yeah me too, I told myself after the house I can't spend as much on the car...
Then a GB Flashes across my screen for floor matts or door handles and BOOM there goes my spending cash ! I'm Just happy I didn't sell it on many previous "Oh My Gog this is too much of a PITA" occasions, and like many I stood steadfast in the "I could use the cash as a downpayment for the house" descision.... which in Califonia would have been a drop in the bucket anyhow.... :D |

Right after buying this car I had some ambitions for serious mods, but decided against it early on. I think it was the domino affect of most mods that got my attention first. I took up AX'ing and with the exception of suspension, pretty much left the car at reliability mods. The car still outperforms me by a comfortable margin, so I don't need anymore power. Besides, I KNOW my johnson is bigger than that guy beside me at the light. ;) |
Well, the "no mod" bug hit me in a different way...I'm moving backwards.
Smaller turbo (in a sense...turbine housing is smaller, compressor is larger) back to Stock Ports Full faced clutch from 6 puck A/C etc. |
I've been there a while sort of...
except that I only mod when a component goes bad. Currently I'm sick of the "let's rebuild the turbos" game so it's either brand new factory turbos, BNR, or a small ball bearing single. Currently I'm opting for the small single. Cheaper than brand new stock ones, and spool faster than non sequential BNRs. |
My car spends more time on my lift than it does under my ass! i just need a couple more things. Then like someone else stated, it will be tires/pads/and broken parts that occupy my checking account. Its all in fun though and keeps me from doing other stupid things. Without my fd i would prolly be drunk or only have one job :bigthumb:

There are about ten 700-1000 rwhp Supras around my city so having the fastest street car went out the window quite some time ago. I just mod my car to my liking and don't care if it's the fastest.
