Which A/C Thermoswitch to get?

My A/C system was still having problem after I recharge with new Freon. So I check the A/C thermoswitch. I jumped the wire and my A/C works fine again. I am searching for replacement A/C thermoswitch and I found out there are two different versions in the Mazda Body Parts Diagram

1) Japan Make: P/N N001-61-J20 ($160)
2) Optional Parts: P/N FD01-61-J20 ($60)

I am not sure which one I should get since they look very similar in the part diagram, and of course I want to get the cheaper one. My car is 1993 R1 (Mfg date is 10/1992). Anyone know which thermoswitch should I get?

Thanks

I beleive Mazda uses the Begining letter "N" as a generic part. That's what I was told and I think I remebered it right. I'm not shure why you have one specified as "optional" parts. I'm not at home to look at my part # but I sugest you call Malloy Mazda and (whats his name) can help you. If you need a rubber oring/gasket get it. Maybe the other one doesn't come with a plug. Anyhow, get the 2nd gen version instead...

I found the part and P/N at the factory Body Part Diagram. It stated that there are two different thermoswitch. So the 2gen FC A/C thermoswitch will work too?

I would call Ray at Malloy Mazda and he should be able to answer your question. Mine is also dead (and is jumped at the moment too) so I would be inerested in what he says. I did not even know that there was a cheaper version. One other option would be to just buy a used evaporator, which typlically have them attached.

$100 bucks difference is a lot for a thermoswitch. Please see the attached image for the switch. The left side is Japan Model ($160) and the right side is Optional Model ($60). I don't think you can interchange two parts since the diagram shows they have different mounting point.

I guess I have to take out the switch to see which one to get.

Thanks GoRacer for your information, however I am talking about A/C Thermoswitch not the Fan Thermoswitch.

You need the MAazda North America part, otherwise known as MANA. It's the cheaper, optional part, used on base and R models.

The other one is a nippon-denso part used on touring models.
