A/C Temp Control?
 

Just noticed that the temp control for the a/c and heater feels like it's somehow come loose? It kind of gives when you go to adjust it and
doesn't feel right when you try to turn the dial.

not sure how it attaches to the plastic cover and breaking another
plastic isn't something I want to do.

Any thoughts on what might have happened and how to address?

The nut came loose. Pull off the knob and re-tighten.

Slowly/Gently pull back on the offending knob.
You should now see a small nut
Wonder if the first two sentences sound like something out of gay porn.
Tighten nut.
Put knob back on.
