A/C problems, baffled

I had a wire loose from the a/c pump after I installed my new motor and just hooked up back up yesterday because I couldn't take the heat any more. I have a couple probs with it that never occured before the motor swap. When I turn it on at an idle, the car wants to die and sometimes does die. Other problem is occasionally the belt squeals. I know the belt is tight, but it seems like there's some additional pressure being applied when the compressor kicks on that was never there before. Another problem I have, is I can feel the compressor kicking off and on like every 15-20 seconds while going down the road. I haven't used the a/c since maybe last september. Anyone know what could be wrong? When it's on, it blows cold air until it kicks off.

I've had sort of the same problem. Mine was that the car was kicking the A/C compressor on and off every 5-10 secs. It was because I overfilled it with freon. I let some go and the problem went away.

hmm, i don't think that'd be it. it was in perfect working condition and really cold last fall when i last used it. nothing has changed with the system since them, it's just been put on a new motor. before i connected that wire, i could turn on the a/c button and it'd show it was on and the PFC would think it was on, but the compressor wouldn't actually kick on. now that it's kicking on, it's like it's puttin one helluva drain on the motor and it's not stayin on constantly

So go bleed it and find out. Just because it doesn't seem likely doesn't mean it's not possible :)

bah, bleeding won't make a difference, i found another thread talking about the clutch switch could be doing it, so i'm gonna see if mine's bad first, then go from there, if it keeps it up, i'll just remove it
