A/C problem

Hello,

Today, I turned on my A/C and it didn't work so I drove to shop asap. Shop hooked up A/C machine and found out that high side and low side are both same around 120 and 135psi. Shop said car needs new ???valve in A/C unit. Anyone here knows what he is talking about?

Also, is there something I should look for before I order this part from Mazda? Maybe there is cheap or easy fix to this problem?

Thanks
Chris

are you sure theclutch to the compressor is engaugeing, and if they are the exact same pressure i doubt its turnning. The valves are internal to the compressor and you would need to replace the cpmpressor if the valves are bad. There are alot of compressors in the for sale section.

I think compressor is working because I can hear it click and engine load changes

I had to cut 4wires to install power-fc. Do you know if any of those 4wires have anything to do with A/C unit?

I heard that valve that i am talking about is in the passenger foot area.

That would be the txv or expansion valve it could be wide open causing the pressure to be very close to each other. Low high pressure and high low pressure. I think its a pain in the ass to get to! The dash might have to be removed!

I had to have my expansion valve replaced a few years ago. IIRC, it is the same part (at least interchangeable) with some toyota part that was much less expensive. Your A/C guy will probably know what I'm talking about if he knows RX7's. That's been several years and still working fine. Also, don't let them talk you into replacing the refrigerant with the new kind (sorry, I don't remember the "R" numbers). It just won't cool adequately with our compressors.

Do I need to remove dash to get to expansion tank? Can someone please help.

Also, how can I remove gas from a/c lines?
