A/C Compressor Is Broken.. Should I A/C Delete?
The A/C compressor is broken on my 93 FD, I know the replacements are hard to find... should I just do an A/C delete? Or leave it and not use the A/C? What will benefit me? Pro Vs Cons?

Firstly, that's not the compressor. That is the condenser. They are not that hard to find. It is highly recommended that you keep the air condition of this is not going to be a dedicated track car. The system does not weigh that much and adds value/ comfort.
Your location shows Canada so AC may not be a much of a priority, but it is always better to not hack up and devalue these cars. Vince |

AC condensor is also something you could have made locally at an AC specialist shop. I'm not sure I'd want to buy a used one unless the seller will guarantee they aren't pulling AC out because of a seized compressor, you really don't want metal shavings from somebody else's problem floating around your AC system.

perfect opportunity to switch to the rx8 condenser

I can tell you I bought a half bridge, 3mm apex, s366, 1050/2200 injector, list goes on we’ll build Rx7 without AC, I have a Compressor and some lines from another swap project and I really really wish I had AC, my car gets hotter than satans taint during the summer I’m highly contemplating finding the rest of the parts I need and trying to make it work. Take it how you will but I’m willing to wager you would regret it

For the rx8 condenser could I just simply custom fit it and change the a/c lines? Would I need a need drier too ?
And yes, if your AC system was leaky/opened up, I'd replace the drier anyway. Once the system is opened up, the drier will absorb moisture from the air and failing to replace it with a new one will just cause problems later when it's time to recharge the system. |
