Buzzing Noise from Intake Manifold

Hey guys

I'm currently trying to figure out why my car won't start. I'm yet to compression test it as I can't find one but I was attempting to change a few things around to see if it would start and I noticed a very loud buzzing noise coming from this Solenoid below, it sits on the back of the upper intake manifold if you are looking from the front of the car - Does anyone know what it is for? I can't find it in any of the parts diagrams

I think that's the accelerated warm up system.

what's your mod list and what are the symptoms?

I was on the track and it lost all power but boost levels were fine so I cruised it in and then it died when I was in pit lane and since then we couldn't get it started again. I checked it had spark and fuel. I've only checked the feed line for fuel, not the rail. I pulled both bottom spark plugs out and got my mate to crank it and the front rotor is firing but the rear wasn't. It was making a noise like when you put your finger in a glass bottle and pop it out

If you had boost, but lost power and wont start, it sounds like you may have blown an apex seal (or more than one). Compression test should be done.

Yep, compression test before you go any further. You can use a standard parts store compression tester. No sense doing a ton of troubleshooting if you have a blown rotor.

No cat and yes custom

I guess I'm just trying to fight the fact my engine is gone. I'll get on to finding a compression tester - Onwards and upwards I guess

So that solenoid is apart for the Acceleration warm up system? would like to tick that off my list

Did you port the wastegate? engine probably overboosted and the fuel cut was disabled. Catless on stock twins is risky. When you hear of people blowing their engine up on stock twins it often involves a catless exhaust.

that's a Japanese right hand drive car? It shouldn't have an accelerated warmup system then.

It's hard to tell what you're looking at from the pic. Here's a labeled pic on a USDM left hand drive car

I was also suffering very similar problems to this last year when my engine went pop.

I also had the buzzing noise. It's the Idle speed control valve going utterly mental for some reason.

Never got to the bottom of it, and also never got to the bottom of why my injectors were showing duty when the engine was off.

I'll be replacing my loom during this current rebuild.

Looks like it's the BAC. Yes It is a Japan import

Car was Tuned for and boost set to 12PSI - I bypassed the turbo control solenoids to keep the boost down
