Buying a 93 RX7

I am about to go look at a 93 Rx7 and I need a few pointers to look for. I have already gotten a quick scan of the car and it is beutiful. I have noticed that under the car there is some oil kind of glued to the bottom portions of the engine. There isnt any sign of major leaks or puddles under the car and I was just wondering if this is normal for this type of car....

The 'glue' at the bottom of the engine could be a patch weld for blown coolant seals, anyone have pictures he could compare to?

If it is a patch weld don't buy it, it means it needs a new motor. Follow the link mahjik posted.

Someone that knows these cars should look at it before you buy it. Preferably in a shop where some tests can be done.

I think he meant there was alot of oil hanging out on the undercarriage. It's possible the car has a leaky turbo oil return, typically its the rear one that leaks, also sometimes if the y pipe outlet isnt tight it'll leak turbo blowby oil back down. Ussually if the leak is bad you'll be able to smell or see a little oil smoke after a spirited 20 minute drive. Most cars tend to collect up some oil and grime on the undercarriage anyways, if you're really worried about it figure out a way to have the car washed and then drive it around for a while and recheck it.
