buy two engines, rotate them....

A freind of mine suggested instead of taking my FD off the road to rebuild the engine I should just buy a blown 13b, rebulid it and when my current engine blows swap them over, this way I can rotate engines whilst still having transport, good idea you think??

this means that during winter I can have a standard stock port motor for daily driver, then drop a Bridgey port in for summer fun??

Having two different port motors will be more difficult to maintain than having two nearly identical ones. Imagine it's beginning of race season, and you pop your bridgeport while tuning. Will you pull the motor and put your stock port in during the rebuild, just to have to do the R&R again i a couple of weeks? No, you'll rush your stock port to your engine builder telling him to "make it like my bridge port" ;)

Other than that, it's a good idea, but not very original. Many people have several motors for their rotaries.

Rotating rotaries?
uh
that's funny!

that is what i did. i have a rebuilt engine with a port identical to the one on the car if one fails the other is right there to replace it in a day or two.

where can you pick up a used rotary? (not a rebuilt one, i wanna learn how to do this myself)

I'm thinking about getting a second 20B because I'm worried about the avaliability of parts in a reasonable timeframe. However, I could definetly see doing the same thing for a 13B. There's nothing wrong with being prepaired, espically with these cars!

I have a couple sitting in my garage just waiting for the other one to blow.
