Buckling problem

Sup guys,
I have a bucking and backfiring issue on the FD usually after its warmed up. Recently had extensive work done water system, injectors and pump replaced. TPS sensor voltage is good across. Have power FC. Work is a 40 min drive and recently it did it 20 minutes in. I pulled over on the median and turned it off then on and it went away.

How much vacuum are you pulling at idle?

edd956 11-23-18 05:57 PM

420- 460. Steady idle. In neutral it holds 6k steady no problem. No knock.

TPS is too low, raise it to .50v & 1.25v at normal operating temp above 80C

what is your water temp reading on the commander?

edd956 11-25-18 02:12 PM

Will do. Temp is 86c 99% of the time

I read buckling problem in the title and thought this thread was about neutron losses at the edge of a reactor boundary LOL, what an engine swap THAT would be

I had my clutch master go out so I had to wait on those parts all week. Managed to get it adjusted today, it helped unfortunately problem is still going on. I think I have a pretty big exhaust leak. Waiting on the RB exhaust on backorder.

Whats your vacuum read with the car off?

edd956 12-03-18 04:41 PM

-30. When I got to work the tps ranges fell below correct readings. I will readjust when I get home today . Cold the values are right, so maybe I didn't warm it up enough.

Also 390 to 430 mmhg seems a little low for a stock port healthy engine. Could have a vacuum leak.

You want warmed up coolant because when the engine is cold, the hot wax rod unit will open the throttle a little to increase cold idle rpms. This will increase the TPS voltages.

big update- TPS adjusted to perfection. Exhaust on. Checked vac hoses good to go. This post with notes from the Service manual helped alot. https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati.../#&gid=1&pid=2 . Finally I checked the LIM gasket, sprayed some carb cleaner in there and ya its got a big leak. Gonna replace and will report back.

Damn.... nice find. Hopefully you're not dealing with a paper gasket down there. Either way it's annoying to deal with
