broken T-bolt on radiator that drains it, now what????
 

the little t-bolt that turns to drain the radiator on the bottom of the radiator is fucked. it is unwelded and just turns by itself. there is no way to get the bolt to turn to empty the rad. i will try to get a vice grip tomorrow and give it a shot. any other suggestions, could i drain the rad from the lower radiator hose completely. i am assuming not. there has to be a better way. any help is appreciated. it's always an adventure working on this car :) thanks mucho. kevin

you could drain the entire coolant system if you wish. there is a drain plug on the bottom right side of the block. this is also better than just flushing the radiator, since alot of old coolant is taken out of the block

I dont recommend the vice grip option. Go with the drain from the block. I had this same thing happen on my fluidyne and I used the vice grips on it. Afterwards the drain was screwed up. I ended up pulling the radiator and having the drain cut out and a new bung put in with an allen wrench fitting. It didnt cost much and now I dont have to mess with it anymore but you may have harder access to your radiator than I did - mine can be out in 10 min. I hate those drains you find on alot of radiators.

haha, yeah. the ones that are plastic and always break. we had a recent thread about a replacement plug. ideas were thrown around and i thought it would be wise just to replace the plug useing a bolt with strung teflon tape and a washer
