Broken sensor wire
1 Attachment(s)
This wire I have broken is just the 'coolant low' sensor?
It does nothing else other than light up that LED on the temperature gauge when there is no water behind it, correct? Just want to be sure it isn't used for anything else related to the engine warming up as I won't know for a few weeks until I can start it again. Cheers |
Yep, your correct, though it also sounds a REAALLY annoying buzzer when the coolant is low and the engine is running....(i assume) you could just ground out that wire (for now) to shut the buzzer off. i.e just strip the end of it and have it touching the engine somewhere.
I always thought it was the throttle body coolant was used for changing the mixture from cold running to warm running map...could be wrong though. |
Yup, same as he said. You can put a ring terminal on the end of that and ground it to something and the buzzer wont sound. Just be sure to replace the sensor when you get a chance.

Didn't even need to read the first post and knew what sensor you were asking about...damn that fragile little wire.

Thanks guys.
Is it a part i will find a replacement for easily or im guessing a trip to mazda? |
Yup, a trip to or phone call to mazda is in order,
Depending on where you are in NZ..South Auckland Ford and Mazda has been helpful for me in the past...generally have parts there same day. |
