Broken Clutch Fork????

After about an hour of normal highway driving and another 45 minutes of city driving i went to engage the clutch and half way to the floor i felt a little peddle pressure loss. When it was fully to the floor i went to change the gears and I noticed that it was significantly harder to get into the gear.... First is almost impossible unless i put it into second and slam it into first.

Back at the house i lifted the car and saw no leaks coming from the slave cylinder. I pulled the dust cover off of the bell housing and I didn't see anything obviously broken or any pieces of anything floating around.

Also with the clutch all the way to the floor and the transmission in first gear it does not engage at all. even if revved the car doesn't roll forward at all.

Does this sound like a broken or malfunctioning clutch fork?

yep.

don't try to force it in gear or you'll fuck up the synchros also.

ok thanks.... guess ill have it towed home....

also one other thing i do have an ACT street strip clutch and EXTREEM pressure plate.... think that the pressure plate could have broken?

Breaking your clutch fork is not uncommon when using a clutch w/ a HD pressure plate. In fact, Mazda later released an upgraded clutch fork w/ an upgraded part #. See here for details: http://www.fdnewbieimports.com/Backup/product.php?n=43. Everyone should read that PRIOR to doing a clutch swap, so you can make sure to cover all your bases, instead of finding out the hard way after you gotta go back in :(

Ramy, got a pic of the upgraded fork?

Negative. I don't think it looks any different; I think it was a casting issue.

Oh and btw, good to see you're still around!
