Broke some studs, and brake question
 

Hey everyone, anyone know what size the studs are that hold the throttle body to UIM and intercooler elbow to TB? my torque wrench flipped out and I broke teh studs. Where can I get these studs? only from the dealership?

And I recently installed some x drilled and slotted rotors all around, some SS brake lines and HPS pads.

For some reason, on both my rear rotors, only half of the rotor is being used during braking IE only have of it got shiney from braking. I looked at the HPS pads, and they seem to only hit half of the rotor, is this correct? Has this happened with anyone else? Did I get the wrong pads?

The ones that are in the UIM have a part number and you can get them from the dealer easily. The ones for the throttle body, I was unable to find a part number. What I did when I broke one was I took the TB to Mazda. They matched up a stud from another Mazda vehicle. It's not exactly the same, but it worked.

I have close to the same thing with my HPS pads. Although I think they use 2/3 rather than a half. I think it is normal. You did line uo the piston with the pad correctly right?

I noticed the same thing w/ my rear rotors last time I changed them - I think it has to do w/ the calipers fatiguing and no longer holding the pad parallel to the rotor They finally bedded in fully after aprox 800-1000 miles of mostly highway driving. I will be replacing the calipers w/ my next rotor change and see if that fixes the problem. the other possibility is that HAWK may not be getting the pad surface exactly parallel to the backing plate during manufacturing :confused:

When Fully seated the normal rear pad swept area is about 1/2 - 3/4" away from the rotor 'hat' and much farther out than on the front rotor,

YEah I made sure and double checked that post rear pistons were alligned correctly, so I knew it wasnt that. And I know the piston isnt wearing out before because it was fine with the stock rotors and pads.
