Bringing up Water/Alcohol injection.... Again
 

Ok... I read all that stuff about water/alcohol injection into the intake to cool the charge.... But.....wouldn't it work if you setup the system to spray the intercooler? That way you don't have to worry about the potential hazards of water or alcohol damaging the engine. Maybe even setup a nitrous system instead of the water/alcohol?

I believe many people run this setup. Good for auto-X racing but not for drag racing. I don't think that the starter likes seeing drips of liquid on his strip.

i use it... Mine is a bit of an overkill system.. I run 5 nozzles...2 pumps and the MF2....

1 for each oil cooler and 2 for the intercooler... and 1 in the elbow... It lets me run more boost/timing.. but since my car has a stock ecu it just lets me keep cool and consistant between auto sesions.... I usually feed it about a gallon in a day... and thats mostly going oilcoolers and intercooler! Very little is used while racing... mostly after..

I think the key to alcohol/water injection is figuring the correct amount of liquid that is injected into the intake. Ideally, enough should be injected where it evaporates completely by the time it reaches the combustion area.

The idea is cooling the intake charge, not drown the engine. That is why atomizing the liquid is important when injecting it. The more the liquid is atomized, the better it evaporates.

If you think about it, there is 'water' in the air all around us. Think about condensation. That 'water' had to come from some where.

Now if only I can get off my butt and install my Aquamist kit...
