Breakup at high rpms
whell pretty much what the top says.. but could it be from a clogged cat?
maybe a little more detail as to what you mean by "break up"
and a mod list with spark plug heat ranges, ignition, exhaust, intake, port, etc, etc, etc. with a description of the breakup and RPM at which it happens not just "ignition breakup, what could be the problem?"
plugs would probably be a good place to start....pull em
I think the clogged cat only shows reduced boost at the top.

thanks guys it ended up being the plugs they arent to good looking rite now.... can i get the stock ones at a auto zone or pepboys?? would they have them?
get ngk coppers...... napa and carquest i THINK both sell them
what are the spark plug numbers? i completly forgot.. i want to go get them 2morrow.. arent the platinum the good ones?
the places can all look up the right plugs for u no need to have the #s
i've used copper and platinum and have noticed no difference, plus im changing the plugs every few thousand miles. if your plugs foul under 3 or 4k miles its a lot cheaper to go with the copper. |

I have noticed no difference either between the platnum or the regular ones. However depending on your mods and how much boost your running if you continue to have this problem I would say you need an ignition amp.
Change your plug wires too :)
the plugs where changed less than a year ago...
BUR9EQ isnt there one with a 7 in it too? since i am running 10 psi i wouldnt need the preformance ones |
yes BUR7EQ, Also if that doesn't fix it change the wires. Then go for ignition amp last. at 10psi the stock system has plenty of juice, if it is working correctly.
wow at only 10 psi you're getting break up.... sounds like you need a better ignition amp to me

whell the plugs are about 5-6 months old and its my dd |
I'll sell you my Twin Power, that should help...
On a 13B-REW with the stock turbos, there should be no ignition breakup problems regardless of the rest of the mods at 10 PSI. If there is, then its a problem with the stock components (i.e. coils, plugs, plug wires) , it's not a problem of them not being able to 'handle it'.
Therefore, don't add an ignition amp as that's not the proper way to handle it. |
ok i believe its the plugs because i got a brand new engine harness and coil harness 5-6 months ago when the plugs where changed..so i am going to get the plugs in a little.. if i go to auto zone will they have it or pepboys? beacuse that is right down the street
AutoZone usually carries or can get plugs for the RX-7.
Are you refering to the pep boys in the Towers shopping plaza? If so they don't, I went to buy some just last week and they didn't have them in stock(although that was last week).
Your best bet is Benett auto supply off of Flamingo & 84th, thats where I ended up finding some. |
brand: NGK
(2) BUR7EQ leading (2) BUR9EQ trailing those are the factory plugs platinums are ok if you have a fresh motor, they actually can foul easier than the standard plugs however. |
if you don't find them, let me know i have a bunch of stock plugs that only have one or two passes on the dyno. i have them in my garage and you can have them.
i also have, brand new the motorcycle plugs that i use on my car, but i don't know how they would run on a staock car? |
thanks salva...simon ill takem off ur hands when ever i see u but for now i guess ill just go buy some . 2morrow im guess im going to end up heading to benett auto how much would u say it all comes together?
