break in time?

Motor is being rebuilt this week and I ordered the rotary aviation apex seals and the atkins rotary rebuild kit to supply me with all other parts besides the apex seals...
what should be the approx break in time in mileage on this rebuild?

Typical break in is 500 miles under 3000 rpm, no boost. Change oil, not filter. Another 500 miles under 4000 rpm, light boost (no more than 4 psi). Oil change and filter. After that, should be fine. These were Pineapple's suggestions, I used em on my motor, and it runs nicely now.

Others say don't bother breaking it in, just light it off and go. I prefer to develop a bit of compression and get the surface babbiting off the rotor bearings before I beat on it, but this was my first rotary, so what the hell do I know?

If you trust someone enough to rebuild your motor, you should trust them enough to listen to their advice regarding break-in time. Also, your rebuilder's warranty will likely hinge on you following THEIR instructions.

Personally, I think light boosting under 4000 rpm is fine for the first 500 miles, change oil, light to medium boost up to 6000 rpm for next 500 rpm, and then normal driving.

rotary aviation seals do not see peak compression until about 5000miles....this is tried and true information

is that bad? and do they loose compression sooner??? i just dont get why they break in later and is it ok to drive normally after 1k miles of slow break in with those seals??? i have those too

The factory manual says 500 miles... and everybody else says 500... so 500 miles it is...

500 under 3000rpm..no boost.......then 500more under 5000rpm...minimal boost....full bore after that
