Break Squeal with no brakes applied

My front driver wheel makes a break dragging metalic noise, except its like a pulsing as the wheel turns. This occurs when brakes are not applied and when the car is rolling, off or on...sounds like something is touching the caliper...its like a sheik.....sheik sheik....sheik

its annoying as hell and happens like every other day lasts all day

another problem is no matter how long im drivig when i first boost i see blue/black smoke,...then it goes away for the rest of the drive unless im off boost for a long time

Have both your rotors turned. Replace your pads while you're at it (prev. maint.)

Yeah that sounds like the wear indicator on the brake pads,

change the pads!!!then your problem is solved..how many miles on you r turbo?

i had a problem similar to this because i had some p.o.s. ebay brembo rotors. after i scrapped them for better rotors it was gone so i'd say its just maintenance.

Kento 09-11-07 02:04 AM

You mean "ebay Brembo" replica rotors? Genuine Brembo rotors are hardly pieces of sh*t...

i can definately tell there is some pad left..and the rotors are pretty thick

I do hear noise when braking and have always heard squeal when braking i think its just the hawk pads

this noise occurs when NOT braking

Have you actually inspected them? Just because there is "some pad left" doesn't mean that you're not approaching the wear indicator on the pads.

The reason this often happens as the pads wear down is because the caliper pistons are extending out so far that the vacuum that helps retract them back into position is often lessened, especially if you've noticed the fluid level going down and opened the reservoir to replenish it.

Not to mention that the wear indicator is on one end of the inside pad. If you can see that with the caliper in place, you have x-ray vision.

Remove the pads and if the wear indicators aren't rubbing, remove the rotors just in case a stone has gotten stuck and is dragging. (This happened once on another car of mine).

Monsterbox, This exact thing just started happening to my passenger side front wheel. Funny thing is if I brake lightly after it starts to squeal it goes away untill I brake again.

Sounds like the same thing. Karack recommended a brake job, considering the brakes were engaging correctly.

did any of the above work?

bent rotor
