Brake Pad Help

Hi Guys,

I currently have the EBC GREEN STUFF installed and I've been using them for just under 2 years.

The question to you is alternatives.

My driving style/use is hard road with occasional track events. My FD is not used as my daily runner, therefore when she rolls out at weekends, I drive it to the max, rude not to hey? (where permissible).

So, what pads would you recommend? I've been looking up various other discussions and I have the following set-up to propose and I would like to view your comments.

1. HP+ ALL-ROUND

2. HAWK HT10'S FRONT HP+ REAR

3. HAWK BLUE ALL-ROUND

4. EBC RED STUFF

5. ANY MINTEX MODEL/SPECS? OTHER MAKES?

I'm sorry if I have not listed your preferred choice therefore please feel free to add your own based on your personal experience...

Thanks in advance...

i can say from experience that with your driving habits you are better off with ebc green stuff than you would be with the red stuff. the red can not get hot enough on the street to work properly, even when you are driving very aggressively. i have run through 2 sets of green stuff so i don't have any experience with the others you listed.

I agree w/ legal-z and will add that the Hawk HT-10s and/or Blues will NEVER get hot enough on the street to work properly & will end up destroying your rotors.
Go with the HP+ and clean your wheels after every drive as they dust alot. Hawk HPS are the equal of EBC Green for grip, last longer than greens and dust less than HP+.
I would suggest getting HPS for the street and swapping to something w/ a higher temp range for the track. Either HP+ if you want to swap them before going to the track or to BLUE at the track.

Thanks Legal-z and Max.

I've noted your kind opinions, which brings me to my next question.

Have any of you guy's used or heard of Mintex 1144 or 1155 pads?

I'm trying to track a set down as we speak, owners of other performance car's rave on about these pads; therefore if possible I'll give them a shot.

Again any help would be gratefully received...

Haven't tried the Mintex pads but I agree with maxpesce that the Hawk HP+ pads sound just like what you are looking for. Check the recent threads in the Suspension forum for more info on pads.

There seems to be alot of diffrent options people in the Uk are using ither Ferodo DS2500's or Mintex M1155 for Trackday use.

The genral opinion is the Green stuff and Hawk HP+ are the most Used in the US but i've heard the Hawk's are heavy on the Dust and dont tend to last long? and the Greens dont have good feel? it would be good to find a Track guy who has experiance with a wide range of Pads who would give us his opinion.

Cheers

Chris
