Brake Caliper noise

Has any one encountered front brake caliper noise, if so, what was your solution?

pads low?...any chance the noise you hear is the indicator?
if pads r okay, do u have grease on the backing plate?

is the caliper noise the one that kind of sounds like an abs? it's sort of like a pressing sound

I get a single clapping noise when I apply the brakes.

This caliper noise exists when the car is parked and I press the brakes. It sounds like a creeky door hinge.

I get that too. It sounds like a little clink when I apply the brakes at like 3 mphs or under. It started when I got x drilled and slotted rotors and new pads. never went away...its been like 5k miles.

Mine used to creek too. I replaced the pads and rotors and fluid, and sprayed the parts with cleaner when they where apart and it went away:D

I got the same problems and it happened when I got new rotors and pads! Then it went away and came back about 3k miles later and had stayed. It sounds like the caliper is sticking but I really dont think that is? So who knows...... Also the noise only happens at slight braking under 10 mph. Hard breaking and slight breaking at high speeds and it wont make the noise. Chalk this one up as another wierd thing FD's do!

my cars in the shop right now and out of the numerous other things... that was one of the problems. The tech. said that noise is the pads way of saying they are too low. Im assuming the same could happen as you were the pads in as well. So in your case, jason, i would try replacing the pads. The hardware could also be worn down to. That can be bought at the nearest auto store. (Auto Zone)

apples and oranges

I think you guys are talking about two different things.. the creaking/squealing is undoubtable brake noise, but what I think JasonR1's trying to describe is more of a "clunking".. like bushings, not brakes. Mine does the same thing. When you tap the brakes and you're under 10 mph, you'll hear a "clunk", and then an "un-clunk." I'm about to do brakes on it anyway, but I don't think it'll help this problem.

I believe all it is is the worn pads getting smaller allowing it to slide against the pins when the pressure is applied in the counter directon of turn when the brake is applied. It sounds like a loud click/clunk, more along the lines of a metal sound too that doesnt last 1/4-1/2 a second.

This clunking/clanking sound definately sounds like worn suspension arm bushings. I had the same problem. Had them replaced under warranty and things got a lot quieter.
