Braille b2015c install / Mini Battery
5 Attachment(s)
I needed a smaller battery for my Apexi front mount and the Odyssey pc680 wasnt going to be enough. The Miata battery wasnt pretty enough so I ordered the Braille b2015c. It has 425cca compared to the Odyssey's 280cca (or 220cca as I saw in person at the battery store). The install was extremely easy. The Braille mount I ordered needed the slots slightly increased in width and angled slightly more so the included 6mm screws sit flush. The mounting holes were meant to be used with the included self tapping screws but the 6mm screws are perfect for the support piece. It lines up perfectly with the stock holes on the metal support bar. It clears the a/c compressor by an inch or so as well as the cooling fans.

No but I should have. Got them from amazon because it was 30$ cheaper but the battery came with only 5v. Spent around 7 hrs charging it and was extremely pissed off. Braille guarantees it comes fully charged so just order from them.
|
I do believe for it to drop down to 5V, it might not a charge anymore... I would complain to Amazon. Check the battery in a few days if it drops down to 11 V, or so that's a bad battery.

I charged it up and started the car with it a few times so well see how it holds up. Braille has a 2 year warranty on it so im not worried. Just know to order from them direct next time.

Braille makes great stuff. They're based out of my hometown. :D

thanks for this helpful post bud! |
No problem. Now somebody help me with my gauge cluster thread!

The battery is dead and has to be sent back to Braille to be replaced. This is Amazons fault for not using a battery tender I suppose. I fully charged it up 3 times. First time left battery cables hooked up and came back the next ay with 7.8 volts. Charged it up and left the battery cables off, next day had 8v. Same thing the third time. I read the warranty card and I guess Amazon sent me a battery from 08. Bastards!
|
Had a feeling it was going to be dead... Damn Amazon, they have to learn to rotate their stock...
|
I cannot return it to Amazon.com because you are not allowed to ship them hazardous materials. They are sending me a replacement free of charge and I get to keep the original to send to braille for warranty hehehehe
|
Good deal! :D I should order one from Amazon too, buy one get one freeee

I called them today and it shipped out allready. Awesome. It will suck if this ones dead too though.

Don't blame Amazon directly for selling you an old age battery, blame the seller you bought it from. Amazon is just like ebay (minus the auctions) and uses thousands of sellers to sell various products. Amazon just gets a % of everything (kinda like Paypal). Since Amazon is the face/medium to which the seller uses, Amazon is basically gonna take care of you and get reimbursed by the seller for doing bad business. ;) |
Not everything on their website is from other stores, you can buy directly from their warehouse. Which was the case here.

Brailles are just overpriced Dekas are they not? Why not save a ton of money and just get a Deka instead? I've got a tiny Deka that I've yet to install because I'm afraid it will leave me stranded some where. So until I get my car sorted out I'm using a big old Red Top Optima. If the Deka doesn't work out I'm going to try one of these http://www.antigravitybatteries.com/

The only battery that makes since in your link is this one. http://www.shop.antigravitybatteries...ery-AG9200.htm I think not at $329.00. There's also no mention of reserve capacity. Also can any of those batterys handle the charging amps of an automotive alternator? This is the battery I'm gonna put in my storage bin. http://www.braillebattery.com/index....es/b3121/specs If a Miata battery can fire up my 20b, this one wont have any problems. :) |
I like my sweeeeeetttttttt carbon fiber!!

One of these CF Brailles has been in my car for 3 years and I've never had a problem. Even sits in the parking lot at work all day long in sub-freezing temps and starts right up. It's so small that I was able to mount it in front of the driver's side of my M2 large IC (to the the right of the IC duct between the duct and driver's headlight). I made a nice little shelf for it by mounting the Braille aluminum bracket shown in post#1 photos to a piece of galvanized metal and then mounted the galvanized metal using the original OEM battery bracket/box locations.
