BOV's

Which is louder? Apex'i or Blitz? I want the loudest BOV I can find, but I like the stock whooshing sound.

the Apexi is probally a little louder if any. take that $200 or so you would spend on a BOV and purchase some performance parts.

gatdamn 04-30-03 02:18 PM

done and done, I bought an Apex'i FMIC, DP/MP, Apex'i cat-back, power FC w/commander, 1300cc injectors...now I'm looking to get a BOV. I am buying the car saturday, I might be ahead of myself.

The TurboXS RFL is probably the loudest BOV you can find. However, I don't think they have a kit for the RX-7 so you'll either have to weld it to an IC pipe or see if you can modify something like a Supra kit:

Ya think?

compression?
fluids?
cooling sys?
filters?

imo more important than a loud BOV

I am buying the car with 96k on origional motor, only 10k on turbos, so I'm not too worried about the motor, I'll be rebuilding it soon then I'll worry about cooling.

dubulup 04-30-03 02:59 PM

Good stuff!

Scrub 04-30-03 03:08 PM

If you don't have too much experience with Rx-7's yet I would drive it around for a few days untill you get used to it. Then put the parts on.

I've owned fd's before. my first was stock for 2 years before I did anything.

YayeR 04-30-03 07:05 PM

i like the stock one too it sounds like an 18-wheeler, sometimes it's good sometimes not so good =I pshhhhhhh

gatdamn 04-30-03 07:08 PM

I like the way the stock one sounds as well, I'm looking for something that retains that pssshhhhh noise. nothing's better.

Then go with the Apexi.

gatdamn 04-30-03 10:16 PM

Sweet, I'll go with it then, Thanks Everyone. Anyone know where I can find a sound clip of the Apex'i?

Chrisjw85 04-30-03 10:18 PM

Is the Greddy one any good, I'm also looking for BOV's and I was curious about that one since I'm getting all Greddy junk I figured why not since it has a spot for it. Thoughts?

AJatx 05-01-03 09:01 AM

I don't like the Greddy (I have had a couple on my 7's). It sounds like a chirp instead of a whoosh, like a bird.
Very high pitched compared to my old TurboXS Type H BOV. TurboXS Type H was loud and it had a whoosh sound.

I'm actually considering a different BOV since I'm sick of the Greddy.

i like the greddy, but yeah it definately does chirp instead of the pssshhh sound

Street King 05-01-03 12:08 PM

Watch the motor, you don't want a seal to go flying thorugh your new turbines =).

Scrub 05-01-03 12:52 PM

The Greddy BOV i've heard definatly didn't sound like a bird. You must have set it too hard or something. The one i've heard sounded like stock just louder and longer and better. There are sound clips of different BOVs on this one site....which I don't remember :( sorry.
