BOV and CRV Elimination

Since I've gone non-seq I'm removing the oem bov and crv in favor of an aftermarket BOV. What have you guys used to cap-off where the bov and crv used to attach? I don't want to use plain vacuum caps, I'm afraid they'll tear or blow-off when subjected to 15psi. Any ideas??

Turn a plug that is long enough to be flush with the inside of the pipe ,for smooth flow , and that sticks out about 1 inch from the end of the nipple, and the out side part should be bigger in diameter so it can not be pushed in to the pipe . Then cover the plug and nipple with a hose , put a hose clamp on the plug and one on the nipple. Good seal, good flow , good night

What might you use for the plug? Both use a pretty large interior diameter hose. I believe it's 3/8" or larger.

On my stock intake elbow, were the AWS used to be, i just have a 3/4 cap i got from napa with a screw clamp and that has held 15lbs+ for about 4 months now

Maybe I'll give the cap a try then. Anyone else?

i too use a little rubber cap that i got from the "help" section of the local parts store. it's been on the AWS nipple for over a year, on my daily driven car, running at 12psi.

I used the same kind of cap where my bov and crv used to be, added a small hose clamp to prevent it from blowing off and that worked perfectly for me,

I blew a hole in a "help" cap in about a day.

What did you end up using then Wade?

I removed the 5 or 6 nipples I wasn't using (pulled them from the manifold), tapped them and threaded bolts into the holes. Then cut the heads off and grinded them smooth. I didn't want to worry about them failing again.

Max Cooper had these plugs blow out before too. I suppose some people have been luckier, bottom line is I didn't want to lose boost, get an intake leak, or have a car that runs funny because of a $0.50 part breaking. I learned my lesson on that when my stock clutch line broke! Luckily I was a few blocks from home and was able to force it into 1st gear and get it back home okay. I especially wouldn't recommend using these for coolant system plugs, breaking down is one thing, overheating and ruining and engine is another.

For the AWS I used blockoff plates but some day would like to get it welded closed, for the very same reason.
