bought new rx7

my buddy has a brand new s2000 with exhaust. the day i picked up my rx7 we went and raced to see if the rx7 was in good shape. to me it felt strong. the car has 114,000 miles on it and is completly stock. we race from a 1st gear roll to see where i was at we are basically neck and neck. should this be about right? thanks for any help it is greatly appreciated.

I do not know what ..More about your RX7 would be nice ... if it is bone stock S2000 240hp to RX7 250ish alittle less due to wear should be around there , i guess.

Sounds about right. If completely stock with that kind of mileage, get a downpipe, radiator, aluminum ast, boost and temp gauge asap.

with those mods there and a cat-back and intake i should be able to kill him from a roll i would imagine. what might hp to the wheels be about with those mods? thanks again for the time to read this post and respond

just remember, with 114000 miles, if you start doing upgrades, like exhaust, intake etc, motor life will drasticly decrease

sethtroy 06-19-04 12:52 AM

why is that. even if i dont race it. i dont get on the car at all. i just like to relax in it. so if i leave it stock it will last longer. than if i put mods like exhaust intake and downpipe and all the safty mods. i dont understand? i would be freeing up the downpipe so it wouldnt cloge the cats and would be cooling the car better with a radiator upgrade and the ast. please help with a explanation. thanks again for the reply. this all helps me learn and i appreciate it.

Let me venture a guess here....it's a silver '94 base model??

speedx7 06-19-04 02:06 AM

first of all congrats on your car, and don't worry about the mileage because an FD is a beast.

I wholesaled it to the f**k that sold it to you!!!! ;)

sethtroy 06-19-04 02:45 AM

where are you from?

Senna 06-19-04 02:47 AM

Sethtroy, man I'm seriously sorry but I had to....it's late, I'm sleep deprived, busy day at work today, and I just discovered I have a registered sex offender living on my street!!

Anyway, I know because I checked the car out briefly myself a while back.:)

Senna 06-19-04 02:48 AM

The town in which you bought it....if I can call it a town:)

sethtroy 06-19-04 02:49 AM

whats wrong with car? it seems fine

Senna 06-19-04 02:50 AM

Jokes aside....it looked in pretty good shape for 114,000....couldn't believe that Blue Book had it listed higher than mine.....how do you like it so far?

sethtroy 06-19-04 02:51 AM

i love it. do you own one

sethtroy 06-19-04 02:52 AM

you sold it to the guy in merced or you looked at it. and was there somthing you noticed wrong with it?

Senna 06-19-04 02:56 AM

Did you get the compression checked?...at 114,000 there are a variety of worries I would have but it's completely stock as far as I could tell---even the AST-while driven a fair amount it didn't look hammered.

THere's plenty of info here (forum) that will help you take care of the reliability mods--get the basics taken care of...fresh fluids, plugs/wires, fuel filter....DP, CAT, rad, AST...etc. you'll be fine.

sethtroy 06-19-04 03:00 AM

do you also go to fresnostreetracing.com forums? also i planned on building the motor eventually. i have most of the saftey mods done but i am picking up acouple of parts from a guy that lives in merced with a red rx7. then my cat-back and intake and downpipe are already on order. should see a big diffrence in perfromance with that set up right?

Senna 06-19-04 03:02 AM

No I was just kidding about selling it....sorry thought I made that clear. I looked at it very superficially. The dealer guy was clueless about the car he told me he picked it up at a wholesale auction. Indicated he had drove it some since picking it up and that it was running really well. What else was he going to say....

I couldn't tell you if there was anything significant wrong with it...the only things I saw were appearance blemishes but those are expected.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't take it anywhere around here to have it worked on....if you go to the dealership---have Hugo work on it only!! If you do the work yourself even better.

sethtroy 06-19-04 03:04 AM

what mods do you have on yours

Senna 06-19-04 03:11 AM

Oh yeah--big difference with those mods. Make sure it's real healthy before doing too many performance mods--i.e boost pressure for instance. You'll need an upgraded ECU too...before you can do too much performance mod wise...you may have already addressed that issue though.
Actually, with 23,600 on mine I don't drive it much--too many other things to do---next for me though is Apexi Power FC....can't drive it much until I get that taken care of anyway....
Later....
