Bosst controller

Anyone ever seen a Profec A ? Well thats what i am adding to my FD soon. I got it when I was in JP. I payed like $450 for it. I seen shop here in the states still selling it for $600. I will let you know what i think of it. Anyone else have this boost controler? or seen it? I showed it to Loi from Sportcarmotion and he said he have never seen it before.

That was the GReddy "high end" boost controller until the new Profec e-01 came out. I don't see it on the GReddy page any longer, so I don't think they are still making them. I've heard the fuzzy logic learning algorithm had problems with sequential turbos, but I've never used one myself. I suspect these learning algorithms that controllers like this one have get confused by the dip at the transition between primary and twin mode.

As the other guys said, the Profec A is only to be used with non-sequential or single turbo applications.

BTW, the rx7store sells the Profec A for only $440....:(

The biggest problem with the Profec A is it can only control boost if you have absolutely *perfect* boost control, which in the real world is usually not possible. If you get a bit of creep (even minor, "acceptable" creep) it will error out and go to low boost.

Really, it's a POS. Hate to say it, but they go cheap frequently on Ebay, because they don't work that well. The Profec B, on the other hand, is a mighty fine unit, and they just came out with a new one with some minor upgrades.
