Bose problem
 

Hi all,
I just bought a 93 Touring edition with automatic trans a few weeks ago and I am amazed by the power and handling of these cars. Anyway, I just realized that the rear speakers of my Bose system don't work. Does anyone out there know why and a possible solution to the problem? TIA and congrats on an entertaining and informative site.

The wiring harness/clip is on the left side, under the speaker tube... make sure it is pluged in properly.

I have some for sale, actualy there siting right next to me, let me know if they dont work for yah, do you get any noise at all out of them?? Or is it silent????

Dreamin, I'll check that first thing tomorrow morning. Ej, I haven't checked that close, but I'm almost sure they are silent. Thanks for the help, guys. It would be much easier if the stereo had a fade knob.

Well more than likely they are silent, because for those little bose speaker and wave system they put out a lot of bass.

Mine weren't working... now, thanks to Dreamin's tip, they do!

Mine did the same thing. Turned out the amp was f*cked. I have a friend that works for a stereo place who took it to some special guy, that for $75 fixed it. He quoted me 75 before he took a good look at it and ended up replacing almost every component. I got lucky though. Should've cost me 200.

If you have to replace the speakers, Replace them with some infinty Kappas. I really am not a fan of bose, and I sell speakers including bose. Bose is really good at making small speakers sound great , yes, but they lack the color of the Kappas I put in my FD. you can pick them up new on ebay new for really cheap. the model is Kappa 572.3cf 5x7 for the rear.

Hey I have the same model --but Im sure it doesnt matter --but anyways, the rear speakers ae 6' 1/2 's and make sure you dont choose and speaker with a big magnet on it, it wont fit. I replaced all of them and install some alpine tweeter in the front corners w/ a 10 cerwin vega sub--sounds nice ! ---by the way -- 12 wont fix in the back--sux -- later

If I replace the Bose, I would want everything to still look like a clean fit.

Since the rear cargo cover is cut-out to specifically fit with the bose sub system... Are there speakers that will easily fit in/around the cut-outs?

Whatever you do don't bring it to Mazda because they have no idea what they are doing. Especially when it concerns audio components.

Not that you can fit much in the back anyway... but I don't want to fill the back with a huge woofer. I guess I'm hoping a new head unit will work well with the existing Bose sub in the back. I could still replace the front mids/tweets with higher quality stuff.
