boring out stock fuel injectors

who has done it? is it safe, and how well does it work?

widebody2 08-28-04 10:35 PM

I sent my secondaries to rc engineering to bore them to 1300cc...actually all 1300s are made like that. I never had any problems with them but I have seen a thread up here a few months ago that said "1300s blew my engine". Maybe search for that thread.

austinsFD 08-28-04 10:44 PM

i did sounds scary but i need more info

widebody2 08-28-04 10:52 PM

there are a ton of people on here who have done it with no problems....now that i've said that you are going to be the guy who gets them and blows your engine because of it...haha just kidding. I am not worried about mine, I'll put it that way.

why you gotta jynx it!
lol

how much did rc charge you?

patfat 08-29-04 12:47 PM

About 180 per injector

whoa? then why not just go buy 1600cc injectors?

It's a huge increase from 550cc to 160cc it might be overkill. If you plan on staying w/ the stock turbos then get the 1300cc because you will not need to change your fuel rail.

Because then you also have to spend another ~200 on a new fuel rail (which requires the removal of the ACV too). For many people 1300's are more than enough.

try installing a set of 1600 injectors, and you'll find out why some people bore out the stock secondaries......simple Plug and Play.

yes, i know you have to get a new rail, but theres a chance of the injectors failing after boaring them out

Because there is sooooooo much work beyond just getting a new rail - you need an aftermarket FPR, new fuel lines and a way to route them including all the associated fittings. This quickly adds up to high cost and complexity.

I'm working on redoing my fuel set-up right now, using a custom secondary rail and Bosch 1600cc injectors.... Believe me, if you don't need the extra fuel that 1600cc provide, do something that utilizes the stock fuel rails: either 1300cc seccondaries, or modify your primary rail to fit 850's.

Not to mention, how will you acurately control your secondaries??? If you are running the Power FC, it will only accept up to 1300cc secondaries, unless you are using the datalogit software....

not true. you can go higher than 1300 with the comander only. besides that, what tuners only use the comander?

BoostorLose 09-11-04 11:15 PM

I'm currently running a TO4R setup with 850cc primaries, and 1300cc secondaries, and a Skyline R32 pump in the tank. No problems at all, and tuning for 430rwhp at 16 psi. Good luck man.

Can you bore the primarys to 850 and the secondaries to 1300? This sounds pretty good for stock twins. Also will you need a bigger fuel pump when boring the injectors?

You don't bore the primaries, you just fit the stock 850 secondaries to the primary rail. Yes, you need a higher flowing fuel pump to run higher duty cycles on upgraded injectors, along with a computer that can handle different injector sizes (ie, standalone ecu).

I know this is an old thread, but I'm considering buying some jspec secondaries and thinking about getting them bored to 1200cc or 1300cc injectors. What would be the advantages and disadvantages to both? I plan on getting around 380whp and already have my upgraded pump installed. I know some say that boring out to 1300cc could cause them to stick, but does anybody have personal experience with this?

rynberg 03-08-07 10:23 PM

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that a few hundred of us are running bored out 1300cc injectors with no problems.....

DMoneyRX-7 03-08-07 11:14 PM

I'm stuck between going with buying the modified primary to run 850cc injectors. I already have the injectors because I ordered an extra set to send to rc to get bored to 1300cc for secondaries. The thing is, it is cheaper just to get the modified primary rail. I would rather have 850 primary and secondary because I think it would be moderate and easier to tune. But honestly I don't know. What do yall think? What are the benefits with going 850x4 or 550x2 & 1300x2?

metalCORE 03-04-09 07:13 AM

...i'll have to give this thread a chance... :)

Does anybody know how the 850#s are bored out? I have a lot of machinery here, and no time for sending the injectors away, so do this by myself...

...would be great if there are some informations about the way to bore the injectors...
